Teresa Heinz Kerry's comment IN CONTEXT:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&e=6&u=/ap/heinz_kerry

"Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good," Heinz Kerry said. "But I don't know that she's ever had a real job — I mean, since she's been grown up. So her experience and her validation comes from important things, but different things."

Funny how the media holds Teresa to the fire, while Bush and Cheney can kill over 30 thousand people under false pretenses and it's a whoops!

Please stop helping the RW with their BS talking points.

1. Teresa should not have apologized. She had nothing to apologize about.
Of course Karen Hughes comment was a beaut. What a hag.

3. On The View yesterday she spoke of hugging Laura after the
debate. It was genuine and heartfelt. She is a classy intelligent woman.

The "THK should tone it down" posts really piss me off!

4. And Laura's response
Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for Mrs. Bush, said the first lady was not upset by the comments.

"Mrs. Bush knows it's not always easy when your husband runs for president," Johndroe said. "She knows that some days there's lots of interviews where lots of things are said, and knows that everyone looks forward to Nov. 2 coming around."

am I the only one who finds that really interesting?
She could have milked it...but didnt.
I'm probably way off base but LB's body language with Jr has been bothering me for a couple weeks now. Especially on the shots where they are leaving planes etc. VERY distant and chilly. Not so evident at rallys, but the rest of the time it seems off.

Maybe thats all old news around here?

23. Well, of course, for awhile that was probably true
Hillary wasn't particularly enamored of Clinton around that infamous period.

But if they meant throughout his presidency, probably not.

5. Teresa should not have said that - it's good she apologized quickly
I don't care about the big philosophical arguments people will use to defend this. I don't care who is really right or wrong on this matter. We simply don't need this crap in the news now. Kerry gave a big speech today - that should be covered. Roberston's gaffe - that should be covered. Not this.

9. People should stop scapegoating THK
The media wouldn't give postitive coverage to Kerry - even if everyone was perfect.

Notice the Mary Cheney remark that didn't deserve THAT attention.

It really pissed me off when the powers that be - shuttered Hillary.

Too bad Kuncinich didn't get the nom. - since he was single and didn't have any "wife problems". :argh:

How can anyone possibly think comments like this, well intended or not, can possibly help this campaign. The media has gone ape shit over this.

Someone please tell me how this helps the campaign?

but please. the media will take anything they can get. John has already handed them plenty of non-issues to run on.

Also, Teresa's only had one other gaffe which was back in July. she is not destroying the campaign.

12. Please tell me how comments like this help a progessive web site...
or how attitudes like that help the country.

What is this - let's all act like Republicans day?

People like to know what the family of the president is like....

I happen to think that THK is quite a good role model for people.

20. The issue IMHO is the media. NOTHING that is said will help the campaign
with the horrendous double standard that applies to the Kerry family.

Cheney just a short time ago told someone to go Fu*k themselves on the floor of the senate. Teresa Kerry said something without analyzing every word and it's blown out of proportion. I just hate to see US play into that.

She was validating motherhood and the different life experience she thought Laura had. This is even more of a nothing deal than Mary Cheney. Good grief.

. . . most people ain't got time for "context"

The headline is THK apologizes to First Lady for saying she never had a real job."

That's the story, and it doesn't help. Period.

27. Politics & Red Herrings
With the situation in Iraq bad and getting worse, the Economy struggling, Family's falling behind in mortgages and Health Insurance payments... THIS is what the Far Right chooses to obsess upon?

An inocuous statement from Teresa Heinz Kerry that's been taken out of context and twisted out of shape?

Messed. Up. Priorities.

Nonsense designed to distract Americans from Issues that impact our lives. It is called a Red Herring.

If you want to talk about Family Values and Issues that impact Families... here is a list of suppositions that you can either accept or disagree with.
And I'll HAPPILY support your right to an opinion...

If the GOP REALLY cared about Family Values they would:

Not have fought the Family Leave Act so workers could take 2 weeks off to care for a sick loved one.

Support a Living Wage so that both parents don't HAVE to work to pay for housing, food and health insurance.

Stand up to Corporations getting Tax Breaks for outsourcing decent paying jobs overseas.

Actually FUNDED No Child Left Behind rather than using it as an empty gesture to hide behind.

Stop gutting Public Education so that the only alternatives left will be private school (for those who can afford it) and homeschooling (for the unwashed masses).

Stop trying to shield Corporations' from damages when those Corporations' faulty products suck the guts out of a SEVERAL parent's little ones leaving the children severly disabled for the rest of their lives.

I could go on and on but I have to get back to reading Lynne Cheney's pornographic LESBIAN novel entitled "Sisters".

By the way, could you IMAGINE what the Right Wing and the "Liberal Media" would be saying if Hillary Clinton had written a porno lesbian novel???

Don't believe Lynne Cheney wrote "Sisters"? That's understandable... because when the book was up for republication the White House stopped it. I wonder why.

.................................................................................................

'Sisters' Gets Outed Newsweek

April 5 issue - In 1981, long before her husband was elected vice president, Lynne Cheney wrote "Sisters," a steamy bodice-ripper set in the 19th-century American West, featuring vivid tales of whorehouses, attempted rapes, a suspicious murder and several lesbian love affairs, of which Cheney writes approvingly. The paperback, published in Canada, has been out of print for nearly two decades.

But on April 6 the book is scheduled to be released for the first time in the United States. Many of the novel's most lurid details have already been unearthed on the Internet and by gay-rights activists, who believe Cheney's treatment of lesbian relationships in the book is at odds with the Bush administration's stance against gay marriage. (Cheney's been silent about gay marriage, although her daughter Mary is openly gay.) For example, in the book a woman says of her female lover: "How well her words describe our love—or the way it would be if we could remove all impediments, leave this place and join together. Then our union would be complete. Our lives would flow together, twin streams merging into a single river."
