I am disappointed with their questions lately and have been switching channels to avoid listening to the rediculous answers.
I thought that they had reached into the bottom of the barrel with the Kerry/Cheney Lesbian daughter discussion, but today's question is as you say "political idiocy at its untimate."

5. anyone who claims God for their side doesn't know God . . .

assuming God exists, do you really think he takes sides? . . . or even sees the man-made distinctions among his children? . . . when two countries are at war, for example, I think that God is simply saddened that his children are killing one another . . . again . . . or still . . . I don't believe he even sees that some are Americans and others Iraqis (or whatever) . . . they're all just his children, and all he sees is that they're killing each other rather than sharing the blessings of Creation he has bestowed upon them . . . whatever reasons humankind has created to justify the war (on either side) don't mean anything to God . . . because God just doesn't think that way . . .

and God doesn't bless America any more or less than he blesses any other country, or any other sub-set of humanity . . . people who believe otherwise are fools, imo . . . even bigger fools are those who believe that he chooses one football team over another . . . or one baseball team over another . . . or, for that matter, one individual over another . . .

people have some very strange ideas about God . . .

6. Irrefutable proof that God is on our side:

1. God hates queers.
2. Mary Cheney is a queer.
Ipso facto: God is on our side.

Also...Democrats squinch up their eyes tighter than Republicans do when praying. Therefore they are praying HARDER. So God hears them better.

7. not watching, but is C-SPAN trying to make a point by asking this

just how ridiculous our discourse has become? It sounds to me like C-SPAN poses the question intentionaly as bait to reel in the zealots who are fixated with who owns G-d and who doesn't. I don't think C-SPAN is really representing their own values but reflecting what seems to be so decisive in this year's election, like holding up a mirror to the viewers. I don't know that this question can really be ignored, when huge numbers of people are supporting the Chimp on faith and faith alone, completely ignoring inconvenient facts and reality.
