1. The Eagle Democrat Ad is awesome! Rove is using what he knows
a pack of wild dogs stick together and eat their young...just like the repugs do. Bye bye Bushies....can't wait for the history books to put in text: Worst President in America history was the first appointed President by a Supreme Court, George W. Bush.

Georgie...we won't be fooled again.

2. Ahem, wolves do not eat their young
in fact, they are better at parenting than most humans. Certainly they are better behaved than Rove/neocons/any terroritst you wanna name.

They raise the young sorta like that 'it takes a village' point Hillary tried to make - EVERYONE in the pack looks after the well being of the next generation. They take care of their own with concern and intelligence. They fend off threats with great courage and cunning.

If wolves could vote, they would vote Kerry.

3. I've also heard that only the alpha male and female mate and reproduce.
Yet the entire pack protects and raises the babies like they were their own pups.

11. That is correct. Much care is lavished on the young
and the pack population does not overwhelm the environment.

We could learn much from the wolves.

19. HavocMom and SayWhat, you are both correct.
I'd like to say that I find a lot of animals to be better behaved than those arrogant, smug, and boorish freepers out there who insist that this planet and all its inhabitants belong to them.

24. I totally agree with you.
Long before I knew what a freeper or Repuke was I would rant and rave about how horrible humans can be. We've extinguished or brought to the brink of extinction species after species for our own gluttonous desires, wrecked havoc on the environment, and we even routinely murder our own offspring, or psychologically damage them so much that they wish to be dead. Despite our awesome reasoning ability and vast capacity for creativity, I feel our reign on this earth has caused much more damage than good. And now that we've taken down every other living thing, people like * seem hell bent on finishing the job off with global annhilation.

10. Read or watch "Never Cry Wolf" by Farley Mowat
Mowat camped out in the arctic near wolves and wrote about what he observed. A movie was made from the book.

Mowat discovered that the wolves ate very few caribou. They mostly subsist on arctic rodents. The wolves treated Mowat with respect and didn't attempt to hurt him in any way. Mowat observed how the entire pack took care of the young.

A few years later all the wolves he observed were dead - killed by poachers with machine guns in helicopters.

13. I've seen the film - it was pretty good
And it gave me reason to think that wolves are not that dangerous to man. I've read somewhere that there have been very few attacks by wolf packs on humans in nature. Wolves are afraid of man.

31. Wolves are shy & afraid of man
And no, the myth of wolves attacking people is just that: a myth.

Wolves are beautiful creatures, & what has been done to them by man is truly heartbreaking.

My son gave me a gift of wolf adoption, through a Save the Wolves Foundation. They sent me news & pictures & it was wonderful.

36. I spent a month
this last summer helping to care for wolves and wolf/dogs here:
www.saintfrancissanctuary.com

I truly felt honored to be in the presence of such wonderful creatures. Some of them had been abused, trapped, shot and confined to small quarters. Even though they can't run free, they have good sized runs and we would take them for walks. It was so good to see their lives improved and peaceful. I truly became a wolf lover.

26. Crying wolf is a brilliant idea- it fits
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 04:45 PM by timezoned
the NY Times article this morning- condemning them for using threats of attacks in the campaign, thus weakening their ability to warn of a real threat.

You know, this ad is so ridiculous it might just be the new poster boy for how juvenile and well, ridiculous he is. I bet you anything JS on the TDS picks it up and runs with it.

1984 Reagan ran ads that said "There's a bear in the woods..." footage of a bear representing the USSR roaming around. There is some kind of campaign ad archive online somewhere - if you google you'll find it.

Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 04:24 PM by AP
Americans are nothing if not optimists. It's our greatest protection from fascism. Europeans have a history of misery, war, and fear. Americans have a history of reaching for the sky. That's why people like Bush and Cheney will almost always lose to people like Kerry and Edwards.

22. Someone who's good at video please
take the wolves ad and cut it with the pet goat scene.

(menacing voice) Those who would harm us....(images of wolves) ..(image of reading my pet goat)....

(sound of goat bleating) did nothing to protect us....(image of pet goat reading, looking puzzled and lost)...(wolves, goat, wolves running away, reading in chair continues)

and so on. I'd do it if I knew how.
