Karl Rove, Perception and Reality. Bush within a hair of losing
OK, I'll admit I fell for it for a few hours too.

But what we all have to realize is that when you look at the results of this election, BUSH is VERY close to LOSING. Kerry is VERY close to LOSING. BOTH are VERY close to winning.

The perception that is being created by the media, and that has swept thru the mindset of the masses, is that Bush is VERY close to winning and that Kerry is VERY close to losing.

People are worried about the election being stolen thru disenfranchisement, or thru electronic vote fraud, but the attempt to steal the election THAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE SITTING NOW is nothing so concrete. It is an attempt to create the impression that Bush has "won" and that Kerry is "grasping at straws".

I have said it before - Karl Rove is a black magician. He is an illusionist. His work involves management of perception and creation of the desired beliefs in the masses more than anything else. He is very good at it.

How many here thought at some point tonight that Kerry was losing, even before 2/3 of the states were called? How many thought "we're finished"? How many thought, "we're grasping at straws in OH"?

Did anybody think, "Bush's lead is hanging on by a thread, and it's gonna snap when those provisional ballots are counted"?

We did a great job at spin control after the debates. We need to do that now, and make sure the media does not amplify Rove's illusion.

1. Surely Rove can't have control over most of the media?

2. Add to your perceptive comments ........
......... the way in which they called the states. They called all the red ones within minutes of the polls closing. The blue states all were late to be called. Perception: Bush strong and a winner/Kerry weak and a loser.

Stagecraft, indeed.

3. Exactly. Notice how long they took to call Michigan and Pennsylvania?
But this time we have the "Mission Accomplished" (not) to throw back in their faces.

Bush declared victory prematurely once before, and great harm came to our country as a result. We will not allow it again.

5. Add to that New Hampshire.
NH is waaaaay late being called. Why? Because, if Gore won NH in 2000, Democrats win. They call NH after the fix is in. Explain to me how, given the disaster of the past 4 years, we have Bush winning the popular vote. Sorry, I will never believe it.
