my little brother is pissed...got a letter from Uncle Sam
back in 1997 or 98 he joined the Army. They lied to him and he would not have gotten his student loans paid which is why he joined...

well to make a long story short, he blew out his knee...ACL ended up not even finishing boot camp. He has discharge papers

got a letter saying he needed to finish.

WHAT THE FUCK

bad thing is...he voted bush because of Abortion even after months of me working on him...

sucks to be him...

I told him

you voted for the fucking bastard, I didn't, hope you got money for a lawyer

1. wow that's cold
But I would have said the same thing. All those people that voted for him were voting for some other person to suffer, whether in Iraq or because they couldn't end an unwanted pregnancy, or they didn't have health care. They need a reality check.

30. Which meatpacking abomination does she live close to?
I just read "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser and I happen to live deep in the dark heart of this disgusting industry. We are almost exactly halfway in-between the IBP plants of Grand Island and Lexington, Nebraska. We are 16 miles from the disgusting turkey plant in Gibbon, NE.

I will never eat at a fast food chain again. I have reduced our families meat consumption to perhaps 2-3 pounds of poultry per month and perhaps 2 pounds of ham per year. We are a family of three. Our staples are now rice and veggies. We still use dairy but I buy at the natural foods store now so that I can be sure about the cows. I probably use 6 eggs or less in cooking per year. If I ever need bovine for a recipe I will order buffalo which is similar to turkey in fat and cholesterol and is by nature, free-range. Buffalo do not respond favorably to steroids, hormones, protein (chicken/pork carcass) feed or any of the things that make modern beef production so thoroughly revolting. Buffalo must roam and feed on grass to thrive.

Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 07:03 AM by theHandpuppet
And it was quite good! Unfortunately, its not available anywhere near where I live now. Thanks for the info about buffalo meat, though -- I didn't know about the benefits you stated.

the voting booths should have a trap door that whisks you off to the induction center when you punch the Republican button.

9. When my little brother called me the Thursday after the election
he said he didn't want to call me on Wednesday because he didn't want to "rub it in" that my guy lost! I told him that was kind of him, but he didn't have to bother because I WILL BE RUBBING IT IN FOR 4 YEARS THAT he voted for *. Don't blame me, I voted for Kerry!*

I am sorry they are calling up your brother. My prayers go out for him and your family. That is one hell of a "told you so" to have to live with.

21. A man? No. Bush had his chance to walk that walk,
back in the 60's. He opted out, EVEN THOUGH he was gung-ho on the war (see cartoon).

Please explain, if you can, why anyone who knew that and had half a brain would vote for him, given the current mess he has us in.

27. She/we know that the unzipped idiot is no "man"
It's more like the bush-lovers "macho" perception that he's a real "he-man." And I'm not sure anyone of us can answer any better than you already have as to why anyone with "half a brain" would knowingly vote for a proven disaster monkey.

One lady I talked to recently told me she almost voted for Kerry but she was uncomfortable not knowing what evils he would bring into the white house. She said by voting for bush she knew exactly what kind of evil she was getting :wow: Course I'd wager a guess that she doesn't know half as much about him than most of us do.

 Personally I don't understand her logic at all knowing what I know about bush. I'd take the unknown any day over bush. At least then I'd feel I had a chance.

I've heard that before too. Usually I think it indicates a person who is so entrenched in their habits that they use the regularity of their habits to justify those habits........... no matter how bad those habits may be.

If all those who support Bush would fight in his wars we wouldn't need a draft. Also, the sooner these folks get screwed by Bush the sooner the will vote more rationally I hope.

16. Plenty of 1971 hippies voted for Nixon in 1968
Once they got a taste of reality and a little shrapnel on the side, they changed their tune.

I suspect it's going to be very similar with the kids that voted for Chimpy. I've already noticed a difference in some neighbors who voted for Chimp who are scared now while seeing and hearing stories about Fallujah.

On the abortion issue, that's hard to explain to someone who never had to really deal with the situation...unless they already figured out that the government should not control a woman's body...

I hope your brother sorts it out.

23. I feel sad for your brother
and all those that voted to kick themselves in the ass.

If we were just talking about economic hardship, that's one thing, but to have to go fight and possibly die in a war is another. No one deserves that.

Death is a harsh price to pay for ignorance.

It is very sad that there will many that end up paying that very price.

34. if he gets a lawyer, from what I've seen on the news
he should be able to get out of it.

I'd feel the same as you.

You know, I'm against abortion too, but I'm also against a young girl killing herself with a botched abortion, because she's terrified.

Education is the key. The more educated about birth control and what abortion is, can help solve this problem.

Making abortion illegal also kills people.

it is a personal decision and one that should only be made by those affected by it

NOT some man who never would ever have to make that decision

41. He should read the fine print....
In order for the army to fulfill its obligation you have to serve at least 3/4'ths of your initial contract for them to pay off student loans and GI bill or college fund. If he only was in during basic training, all he would get is medical care for his knee and maybe something like 10 percent pension from the VA. I have seen many people get their student loans taken care of in this manner. They also get automatic rank of E-4.
