Pro wrestling takes on Iraq.
This is depressing. I was flipping channels and watched a pro wrestling program for a bit. There was an Arab American with a checkered Arafat-style head covering arguing against a fat Texas-twang pig.
The script was very careful to have the pig acknowledge that the Arab American was an American, but they then had the Arab American spew ridiculous "left wing" arguments against the war. It was a big 'hate America, blame America speech,' to which the pig spewed patriotic "love it or leave it" crap along with a 'Don't you ever call our troops cowards' speech.
How do we fight that kind of culture when we don't have the media?

2. how old are you?
i ask because you may remember the iron sheik. nicoli volkoff. even some older than those. hell it was late 80's early 90s i think. the guy with the 2by4 (name escapes me) would start the crowd chanting "usa! usa!" and the commies would get all pissy, and then get beat down. worked every time. that camel clutch the iron sheik had was a biiiatch though! we used to use it on my friends little brother. now he can kick my ass, so i don't really bring it up.

4. I remember
The Iron Sheik came back during Gulf War I as "Colonel Moustafa" who played a mean Iraqi.

All very childish and stupid. First they tell us we need to supplicate ourselves to NASCAR fans. What next? The morons who watch pro-wrestling (some of whom probably think it's real)?

5. aw hell,
you should see the crap vince (WWE) puts on nowadays. they have a pair of generic frenchmen, and an american "traitor" that they call "la resistance" that cater specifically to the pro-'murkin, anti-french, and homophobic 18-30 year olds, 99% of which are rural, white, and have a disposable income that could be attributed to welfare or daddy. the schtick is pre-packaged, convenient, and requires very little intellectual effort on behalf of viewers and writers.

let's face it, pro-wrestling does not target an intellectual audience. watch it next monday night: the commercial breaks consist of skittles, ford, and the new x-box game where you blow up more shit than the last one. as for the pro-'murkin message message, hey, the writing caters to the demographic. it's just like including a cheez whiz coupon with every case of natural light, or offering nascar tickets with skoal.

you can't fight that kind of culture really. education is only cool to people who expect to do something with their life that doesn't include "when i win the lottery" the television drivel only enforces that mindset. learn to garden, butcher, cann your own food, and take a course in building. expect to hit rock bottom...real soon. while the rest of the 51% brainless vote us all into extinction, plan for a darwinistic view of the future of 'murika - one television show away from the stupid bastards entertaining themselves out of the gene pool.

6. I remember a story about a reporter seeing Lee Atwater(Rove's guru) coming
out of a pro wrestling event somewhere in the Carolina's. This was when senior was running against Dukakis. When asked what he was doing at a professional wrestling event; Atwater said he observes what stirs the crowds and incorporates those themes into his campaign strategy. I knew then who was winning the election!

In the days of "true believers" the fans were the best part of any event. Try to find a book called "Whatever Happened to Gorgeous George?" It's filled with gems from pro wrestling's heyday.

In the past, all Germans goose stepped, all Japanese attacked the good guys when their backs were turned. Russians were always villains who attacked in groups. Gays always wore colorful, fancy clothes and minced around. You get the picture.
