I noticed the sign next to a section of spectator seats close to His Highness. At first I thought they might mean actual military heroes, but then decided there probably aren't enough MofH winners alive to fill a whole section of seats.

So who were they honoring? The biggest campaign donors? GOP chickenhawks? Who?

They tarnish and cheapen everything they touch.

4. And after the ceremony................
they'll be notified that their benefits have been cut and be completely ignored after the photo-ops are over. Thanks for dropping by, take care, see you in four more years.........if you're alive.

3. I don't know. I saw somewhere the other day that there have
been 55 of them issued in Iraq. I, of course, automatically dismissed it as a misprint or misunderstanding.

But I wouldn't put it past * do devalue the Congressional Medal of Honor, handing them out in handfuls, in support of his war.

I hope not.

seems to be a good place to start.

that site says that it's presented by the president, in the name of the Congress. also says the last two were awarded for action in Somalia, in 1993.

(edited to correct my misconceptions!)
