LTTE: We want Gannon, not Dean
My LTTE of the Philly Inquirer:

I'm wondering if your political columnist, Dick Polman, is planning on writing about the disgrace to his profession that is the James Guckert/Jeff Gannon story. Conservtives love to rail about the liberal media and, indeed, Mr. Polman is always quick to deride comments that he leans to the right. Yet, here we are. Soon after the Armstrong Williams scandal we find that an excuse for a journalist with, at least, ties to male prostitution was allowed to be at White House press briefings so that he could serve up meaty, softball questions for the President and his press secretary. I'm hoping that this story will get more attention than further retrospective on Howard Dean's year old scream. I look forward to your response on this issue.

Thank You,

Mark

1. I especially like the "meaty softball" part
Makes me think of Gannon having a Man Date with Liddy.

I wonder if we can do better than "softball questions."

The Reich-wing media are framing this as, "The liberals are mad because they think he's too conservative."

IMHO, "softball questions" plays into this frame. "He's not asking questions that are liberal enough."

I think we should convey that not that he is throwing softball questions, but something along the lines of:

1) Speaking lines scripted by The White House.

2) He's paid to be Bush's straight man (ironic pun and double-entendres not included).

3) He's not asking questions, he's reading his lines, and Karl Rove wrote the script.

Ideas, anyone?

(On edit: is "meaty softballs" a double-entendre?)

7. THAT's a good one
Point out he used falsely attributed quotes. Not to mention his "questions" were thinly veiled inflammatory statements.
