Some weird repub comments I should share with everybody
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 02:19 AM by Melodybe
Since Dean's Monday night "I have a scream" speech, I have talked to two republicans. One is my father in law the other is just a friend of mine. They don't know each other and they both like Dean most, with Edwards coming a close second. For some reason that is a complete mistery to me they both seem to think that Hilliary Clinton is sabotaging Dean and they think the media is in on it. Because they both firmly believe that the media is chock full of liberal bias, they now like Dean more. They like him b/c they think that the DLC hates him and is out to get him.

So I am beginning to wonder if CNN's nonstop playing of the speech is going to backfire. Is Dean really made of teflon? Will more people tune in to see Diane Sawyer's interview on Thursday b/c now more than ever they want to see what Dean is so angry about? B/c this whole anger bit was all hog wash to begin with, when they see that Dean is a descent guy that has done a lot, will his support now go through the roof. His PR people are getting him on the Daily Show and hopefully he will be on Letterman soon (thank god someone was listening!)

Repubs liking Dean b/c they think that the liberal media and Clintons hate him!?! WTF! These are strange times my friends.

They dynamic 4some of Gephardt/Kerry/Edwards/Clark can't phase us. They can just keep falling on their swords hoping to knock us out.

4. Okay, you've made me laugh.
Of all the screwy, paranoid logic...Evil Hillary and the Liberal Media are sabotaging Dean therefore he must be good. YES!

Oh, this is hoisting petards with a vengeance. (And I'm back to not remembering what the hell a petard is.)

Hell, I like him because I think the DLC hates him. HaH!

Tighten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

7. Apparantly one or more of the right wing pundits
have floated the notion that the Clinton's are behind wanting the Dems to loose so Hillary can run against a repub.(who isn't an incumbunt in '08). I have a friend whose mother was so confused about everything (a militant right-winger - eventhough her oldest daughter is a lesbian) said that "when Bush runs again, not this time, but the next time, the Clinton's want him to run against Hillary." I said to this woman, "What do you mean when Bush runs next time, do you mean in Nov. of '04?" and she said "no, in '08." I said "Bush can't run again in '08 because of the presidential term limits." She said "Roosevelt ran several times" (and she repeated this over and over again) and I and several other individuals who were with me had to explain that they don't do that anymore and that there are term limits. This is the level of stupidity and ignorance that seeping everywhere in our country right now. I shit you not - I actually had to explain to a grown woman that the president have had term limits since the 40's - OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10. Nope after the Sawyer interview i bet a million his numbers go up again
This will be the first time that many Americans tune in to find out who the hell Dean is with no spin with just him talking. He may be a bit bloody but I really think that he is going to turn this around.

12. Wake up from dreamland folks,
Last I checked, the grand old party has the Senate, the House, the Presidency, the governorships, and like it or not, was still gaining, and it was not going to stop gaining until we figured out a new plan...which kind of implies that there is something wrong with our current thinking (hint, hint). We don't help ourselves by underestimating the strategic thinking of republicans.

Yes, repubs do talk about wanting Dean because they think with his stupid mistakes he is the easiest to beat (I disagree), and yes they think (and I do agree) that Hillary Clinton is sabotaging Dean because she wants to run in 08 and not 04 (because she is not ready organizationally to run for national office yet), and it's too much risk to run now against an incumbent running on a manufactured "wartime" campaign. And they see it as not just Hillary Clinton wanting to get back in the White House, but President Clinton too, which scares them to death for some reason.

She (and Bill) ARE sabotaging Dean because through Terry McCauliffe they currently control the DNC, and if Dean wins, he will put his own people there, and Dean hates McCauliffe & staff, and that won't help Hillary run in 08 as much, or if Dean wins, he will be an incumbent in 08 and Hillary won't be able to run until 2012 (this is called cold hard political long term planning).

Sorry to tell you but Clark is the Clintons' boy, and Clark's campaign is just a Clinton mission launched when Dean started to get strong to keep the DNC in Clintons hands, mark my words. What, you think Clark actually decided to run for President himself? Pleeease...

A good part of the media (and I'm talking some liberal media) is loyal to the Clintons too, and they have been savaging Dean. Wonder why?

Dean even supported this himself the other day when he complained publicly to Terry McCauliffe about the negative crap coming from the DNC. It did him no good of course.

I thought Clinton was a good president, but I never thought he would be capable of going to such lengths to get back in the White House.

14. I'm sick of these...
conspiracy theories. For God's sake, why the hell would Hillary "sabotage" Dean if she wanted to run in '08? The DLC is frenetic about Dean being the nominee because they're afraid he will lose. That's all there is to it. I happen to share the same fear (though I don't believe their favorite Lieberman is a good pick either and I definetely do NOT share their same analysis of how to win...Dean is correct in that the DLC is way too far to the right and as I've said a million times on this board, I appreciate the energy and enthusiasm Dean has brought to the party.

However, your analysis is crazy. What media is this that is loyal to Clinton? The same media that hounded him over non existant scandals for 8 years?

This is absolute nonsense. This sounds straight of Free Republic.

I say this as one that does not like Hillary and would vote for any of the current democrats over her, including Clark, who is very intelligent and capable. Is it possible Clinton likes him over many of the other candidates? Sure, but so did Gore...

15. no -it's true
Bernie Ward touched on this topic-
The other night he mentioned a little about the Clinton/DNC/Hillary08 connection...
I believe Bernie on this.
And Clark is Clinton's boy --
But I like Clark too--I like Dean-I like Kucinich----------------------.
Can't Stand Hillary ever since that awful speech she made on the House Floor when they voted to give Bushler to power to wage war at will..
(she said-"I trust you mister president, I trust you'll do the right thing) as she voted to hand over the power to declare war to the PNAC boys.

But for some reason two die hard repubs seperately told me this over the last two days. I thought that it was weird and wanted to share.
