Bank of America Loses Tapes With Federal Workers' Data
By Paul Nowell
Associated Press
Saturday, February 26, 2005; Page E01

CHARLOTTE -- Bank of America Corp. has lost computer data tapes containing personal information on 1.2 million federal employees, including some members of the Senate.

<snip>

"The investigation to date has found no evidence to suggest the tapes or their content have been accessed or misused, and the tapes are now presumed lost," the bank said in a news release.

The missing tapes include information on federal employees who use Bank of America "smart pay" charge cards for travel and expenses. Bank of America said it will send letters to current and former government employees whose information is missing and set up a toll-free number for people to voice concerns, according to a report in Government Computer News.

Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) is among those senators whose personal information is on the missing tapes, said Tracy Schmaler, a spokeswoman for the senator. "There were some senators' Visa credit card accounts involved," Schmaler said. "We don't know how many, but he was one of them."

4. You are right.....Leahy and Daschle
I am spooked about that whole anthrax thing. It was anthrax that came from OUR GOVERNMENT and during the debate over the PATRIOT ACT.

I never used to be a conspiracy theorist, but the crew in charge of our government is so scary that I think anything is possible.

Funny...they never caught the person(s) responsible...just like OJ never found Nicole's murderer.

See this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_anthrax_attack

Quotes:
The anthrax in the Daschle letter was described as fine powder. In comparison, the Daschle material was ten times denser in anthrax spores when compared to the retrieved New York Post sample. The Daschle anthrax consisted of nearly pure spores, with a concentration of a trillion spores per gram.

The anthrax material in the Leahy letter was similar to the powder found in Daschle letter. However, the Leahy anthrax powder had particles that were smaller and more uniform in size when compared to the Daschle anthrax.

The letters that were mailed contain at least two different grades of anthrax material. However, all of the anthrax within the letters were of the same strain. This strain, known as the Ames strain, was first researched at the Army's Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), Fort Detrick, Maryland. The Ames strain was then distributed to at least fifteen bio-research labs within the US and six overseas.
