We Dems Need a Leader Now-----like yesterday............
I'm getting more and more appalled at the print and tv whores proclaiming that Hillary IS the Dem candidate in '08 period. But I'm seeing more and more of these same whores now quoting her various statements on issues and positions taken in speeches, etc. They totally refuse to that for any other Democrats (and then complain that we have no positions or ideas). Thus, they are making her sound like she, our "candidate", is expressing the opinions of the "Democratic Party". Bullshit.

Sorry, but Hillary translates into 8 more years of Republicans and that's why I'm frantically searching around for a "leader" to emerge from other "wannabe's" and fast. I don't have to tell you how these people can and do form opinion in this country. That's what they are doing right now. That's why any one who intends to run cannot show up 3 years from now and think they will get any press.

Before the media has her acceptance speech written, we need someone half way electable to literally seize the microphone and insert themselves into a leadership position in this party.

1. I still have yet to see a prominent Dem actually say that.
You have to understand though - Hillary Clinton is probably the largest fund-raising machine the Republicans have. They mention her in every single donation request letter. They HATE her.

So every time they mention she might try to become President, a few more RNC donations roll in. That's why they do it.

4. that definitely has the ring of truth in it
republicans love their bogeyman (or woman as the case may be), especially if trotting her and Osama out every other week means getting people to write checks.

2. Have to agree
with you about the media proclaiming that Hillary is THE CANDIDATE!

Leadership has to emerge or this bs will continue right up to 2008.

Hillary is an OKAY Senator but I don't like the idea of her running for Pres in '08. She is far too divisive and an easy target for the right wing....

3. While I agree that Hillary is not the defacto nominee and shouldn't just
be handed it, I disagree that she means "8 more years of Republican" rule. She has been underestimated from the get-go and I think she has a great shot!

5. Well, gee, polling numbers keep showing her the leader.
I don't see it, but still the polls reflect what the polls reflect. At this point it is mostly name recognition and a longing for the great years under Clinton the First.

Four years is a lifetime in politics and someone else will rise to the top. Forget the anointing at this early date.

All that said, I am enjoying Dean as party leader. The attack machine tells me that he's someone the GOP fears and the things I've heard him say give me courage.

6. The last thing you want to be this early is the frontrunner
How often does the early frontrunner turn out to be "the one?"

7. have we forgotten the media doesn't report news?
Edited on Mon Mar-07-05 03:46 PM by sacxtra
So quickly we forget. They are corporate owned.

You can make up anything you want. And that's EXACTLY what they are doing.

When you are corporate owned you can do things like this.
Funny thing is they won't print this.
Media will NOT discuss this.

THIS...

If you want real news, your going to have to GO OUT and GET IT YOURSELF, and you could Submit it on your local Public Access Channel if you really want to see it on a TV.

8. There is something scary about this crying out for a leader.
Yes, there have been great leaders in the past, and there will be again, but that shouldn't be something to count on. We need a platform, we need a goal, we need our ideals.

Let's not forget that 'the leader' in german is 'Der Furher'.

9. It's time we ignored the talk about 2008 and focus on Congress in 2006!!
It's WAY too early to talk of a presidential candidate in 2008. Let's focus on the mid-term elections and on issues that are facing us TODAY.

10. There Is No Guartantee Hillary Is Going To Run
But I certainly don't have a problem with Hillary running. To me the Clinton Era looks now like a golden time in our history that we can only hope will someday come back. If I can't have Clark, Hillary will do just fine.

However, if she does go for it, I hope those among us here that are upset at the prospect of Hillary running will remember the Clinton tactic of political triangulation. Nothing would help make her candidacy appear to occupy the middle of road more than to have both the right and the left howling at her.

Alienating the 1% or so of the electorate she would lose on the left in order to gain greater credibility with the vote rich middle is pretty sound politics if you ask me. And if it gets the Bush Junta out of the White House, well, what greater justification would anyone need?
