Dean Fans, DUers: What Kerry V.P/Cabinet Could Excite You re Victory 2004
To get anything done in Washington, Democrats have to win Congress as well as the Presidency. Nov. has to be a sweeping victory coast to coast. Eeking out at win is not enough! The grass-roots and Internet effort that propelled Dean could be critical for a real sweep.

So, assuming Kerry can get the nod, who does he NEED as V.P.? Is there a better choice from Wes Clark the point of view of Dean supporters?

What about the rest of Kerry campaigning team? Not just for cabinet. But also to win hard victories against the Repub state by state.

Let’s assume the Gary Hart will be in the cabinet, since he has been campaigning with Kerry from early on and is a defense and national security expert. But, aside from Hart, the great thing about Kerry is that he doesn't seem to have had to do many big pol deals to get where he is, so he may be free to do whatever is best for the fight.

So DUer, What team could get us all excited?

1. I would ask Gephardt if he is willing to
serve in the cabinet as Health and Human Services chief.

And I would ask Hart to be foreign policy advisor.

For vice-president Edwards comes to mind immediately.

Plus maybe Dean can serve as Surgeon General. Or DNC chairman.

7. Then one can say you're only helping Bush by nominating Kerry...

can't they?

I won't vote for more of the same DC insider corporate puppet dems who are just as much a part of the problem as Bush.

If these insiders want to shut out the grassroots to keep their grip on power, they'll be doing it without my vote.

I really do not think people understand for how many people Dean is the democratic party's LAST CHANCE. Dean represents a last ditch effort to take this party back from the special interests and DC insiders.

If they are able to take Dean out and nominate someone like Kerry. They won't just lose my vote, they will lose my membership in the democratic party. The party will have sold me out, and worked to keep my voice silent... so fuck them.

There is a huge crack down the middle of this party... a lot of people are ready to just give up on the democrats specifically because of shit like this. Any dem with fire or energy is shut down... and dem who wants reform is shut down. Any dem who doesn't play the insider game of favors and power brokering is shut down.

Dean is their last chance... if they don't realize it, they will lose to Bush. Be it Kerry or Clark or Edwards... they'll lose. They'll lose because 20 or 30 percent of the party will bail on the party if they run yet another bland safe boring wooden democrat owned by special interests.

16. Kerry has decades of solid liberal/progressive credentials.
Unless some of the ideological purists around here come to the realization that there is no perfect candidate for everyone, and there will always be positions and votes cast with which we can in good conscience disagree, then we will have four more years of the worst...president...ever.

8. Kerry/Edwards
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 01:55 PM by feckerman
If Dean loses the primary election, Kerry should pick Edwards. Edwards comes off as young, fresh, and energized - something youth look for. Kerry comes off as the old hag who has been in Washington for a few to many years but hopefully has some useful experince.

If you put them together, you might just get away with the ticket - even if Kerry's campaign has been a nightmare.

Beyond that -Dean for Sec. General - and ? for geph. and grah.?

21. I'd like all the candidates who ran to have a cabinet position
VP - Edwards
Sec. of Labor - Gephardt
Sec. Health/Human Services - Dean
Sec. of Defense - Clark
Sec. of Homeland Security - Lieberman
Sec. of Peace (new position) - Kucinich
Sec. of Housing/Urban Development - Sharpton
Sec. of Interior - Graham

I'm not a big fan of CMB due to her questionable record as Senator where I feel she would be a liability...

23. Not likely to happen but I got a question
Why is Graham at the Interior, I dont know his record on environmental issues but theres one name I think a President Kerry would give that job, and if he got that job, well it would be like how this guy's dad ran the DOJ. Ya know the guy I am talking about, Kerry endorser right now.
