Tom Brady left John Kerry to support George W Bush ?
I saw this earlier today on one of cable networks, CNN or MSNBC? They mentioned how he was at the SOTU address and was now supporting Bush? Has this just put a hex on the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl? Should we put our money on Carolina Panthers? Why would he do such a stupid thing? :)

1. No no no no no
He's a Kerry guy. They had a big thing about this last year in the Boston sports press, comparing Brady the Kerry guy to Bledsoe the Bush guy. Brady was at the speech because he was invited. You get invited, you go.

7. Good for you
I'd go if I were invited. You don't skip a chance to see something like that, no matter who's at the podium.

Me, I'd go see an assemblage in that august hall, meet some Senators and Representatives, talk to the troops who were there, and then write a column no one would read. :)

You and the environment kickin' it at home? The WHOLE environment? Like, all of it? Pandas, too? Cool.

Most people would agree with you. Fancy "august halls" would win them over. I'm different.

33. Hardly
You're talking about an invitation from the President of the United States (illegally or legally) to the State of the Union Address. If anything it provides leverage, wear a Anti-Bush pin or something.

Respect the office, not the man.

41. No
There is a long history of great men who make the office great.

The few exceptions do not diminish it...the Freepers protestations to the contrary

He drove by my pad a while back. I flipped him the high hard one. You should try it. I'll grant that its classless, but you'd be amazed at how therapeutic it is.

P.S. Therapeu... Therapue... Lord praise the one who included spell check on this site.

Tom went to a private school and it's a good thing around here. Public schools are terrible despite the overwhelming spending.

I turned down a scholarship for school here because it was called some BS Presidential Award. It was only like $1000 anyway, and I don't need any help, but eh. Felt good saying no.

Later.

Brady is a Bush backer. I hope the Panthers cripple him in this game.

22. Tom Brady can rot in hell for allowing Bush to use him
as a publicity stunt. I don't care what was said in the past: If you're a Kerry guy, you don't do this sort of thing.

Hell, he had an easy out, too; no one would've blamed him if he said he was too busy preparing for the Super Bowl.

As a Panthers fan, I wouldn't have rooted for him, anyway, but this stunt just adds some righteous indignation to my fandom.

I hope this stunt costs Bush N.C.'s electoral votes (and possibly even S.C.). I've heard some rumblings from a few diehard Panthers fans who are traditionally conservative.

35. The FINAL WORD on Tom Brady's appearance
"NFL: We made the call on Brady for Bush"

http://thetrack.bostonherald.com/moreTrack/insideTrack.bg?articleid=327

Tom Brady is a moderate Democrat, maybe hawkish on Iraq in the Gephardt/Lieberman mold, but there a lot more Dems in the real world either neutral or supportive of the Iraq War than might seem to be the case from only reading this forum.

Plus, as the Herald article points out, Bush SANDBAGGED Brady with a deceptive invitation.
