Critical: NC S 223, 'Voter Confidence' bill moving through state legislatu
details:

Date: Sun, 10 Apr 2005 19:54:44 -0000
From: "Joyce McCloy" <ncverifiablevoting@yahoo.com>
Subject: April 10 * Critical Action alert for NC Verified and friends

Urgent - make your voices heard ASAP - Need you to act as soon as
possible.

*** Please everyone - we must deluge the Judiciary I Subcommittee
members with emails, phone calls, faxes etc insisting that S223 be
passed as written, and/or that we insist on VVPB.***
This must be done today, Monday, Tuesday if possible, and Wednesday
if early.

*the Senate Judiciary I Sub-committee will be hearing election
related legislation this Wednesday (April 13) at 2:00 PM in room 300.
They may possibly hear bill S223 at this meeting, (it may be the next
one) we do not know, and even the committee does not know yet.

We must be sure to contact each member of the subcommittee before
they hear our legislation.
This is critical.

Be sure to put the bill number in the subject line of the email,
subject: S 223 - we insist on voter verified paper ballots
(or similar message)
subject: S 223 - pass without amendment
(etc)
If you want, send them a news article about problems with e-voting,
or just send them a one sentence, your own words. Just get the point
through - paper ballots for ever vote!

Members of Senate Judiciary I Subcommitte:

Senator Julia Boseman (D)
Senator Janet Cowell (Dem)
Senator Tony Rand (Dem)Majority Leader
Senator Jerry W. Tillman (Rep)
Senator Richard Stevens (Rep)
Sen Clodfelter, Chairman of Judiciary I

(Note, Clodfelter is actually chair of the Senate Judiciary I
Committee, and appointed the subcommittee.I believe he should
be copied on all emails, etc)

Phone numbers etc for sub-committee members here:
http://www.ncvoter.net/alerts.html

Please forward this message to all friends and list serves to contact
the members of this committee and insist that the bill be passed as
written, not weakened.
