What happened to C-SPAN 2 on Direct TV it's gone?
I just noticed today there is 2 new shopping channels and C-Span 2 is gone. What the hell is going on. Rupert Murdoch needs to be notified. And what about all these new religious programs. If the FCC ends up regulating cable imagine what will be on or not on.

2. They do not want you to see what is happening in the Senate

...I would urge EVERYONE to bitch, bitch, bitch!!!!!! FLOOD THEM with phone calls, email, complaints, threats to cancel. There's a reason for everything. LINK: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/index.dsp

I just sent them this, keep in mind, friends, you do not have to have a Direct TV account to raise the roof over this:

I came within a day of dumping cable for DIRECT TV, but I have been told that you dumped the Senate CSPAN coverage. WHY? You just lost a customer. Too bad, too, because I like the rest of what you have on offer, but I can't do without both houses of Congress.

14. Have you called them?
I've always found their help lines to be friendly at least. They try to do whatever they can. SOmetimes, though, they just aren't informed.

4. It's still listed on the Program Guide
350 - CSpan1
351 - CSpan2

I have to wait to get home to check my system.

The thing I've always found odd (but not unexpected since Murdoch owns the company) about Direct TV's stations is that C-Span and all the other cable news networks are positioned next to each other (350 - 360), but CNN is all by itself on channel 202.

9. Curious indeed
CSpan is funded by cable and satellite providers; CNN is a commercial entity, along with MSNBC, CNBC, Faux and so on. CNN is affiliated with Time Warner, the NBC cables are in the GE evil empire.

However, I do see your point, that there is a grouping of news sources, and one is off all by its little self. It might have something to do with the time at which the networks joined the Direct TV family, and perhaps CNN feels 'branded' on that number. It does seem odd, though.

Could it be that one is in the basic tier, the others in an expanded basic tier?????

5. Unplug your system and then plug it in again.
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 04:46 PM by Maddy McCall
Wait about 30 seconds before plugging it up again. It will reset it and all your channels should be there again.

If not, go to your menu, then to Guide Options, and select "All Channels"

12. Well, here's my attitude
If we can add our voice to ANY cause near and dear to us, why shouldn't we? I find it astounding that three or four dozen idiots in front of a hospice can command the media's attention, yet a hundred thousand in the street don't get twenty seconds.

I think we, as a group, don't fully realize that a fast WTF? email does have power. One alone, maybe not, but dozens, hundreds, thousands...they can make a difference. We do not use that power often enough. And that is a shame, because when it takes a half a minute, type three or four sentences, and hit SEND, we really should do more of it. It is almost as though everyone says "Why bother? What's the point?" But I sense a 'disturbance in the force' and if we don't move now, and take our opportunity, we may not have another. We all need to get NUDGY, and WHINEY, and COMPLAIN, just like the right has been doing to good effect for years. The difference is, the DNC doesn't have to PAY us to do it!

When I worked in government, we had a ratio...it was like, for one bitching letter, there were a thousand people out there minimum who felt the same way.

Now, with all the email and toll-free numbers, it is so easy to do. And it has never been more important!
