You're all too %%##@@ NICE!!!!
I keep reading threads from DUers asking if it's okay to say "I told you so" to repukes. They don't want to say it, and some don't think others should either.

WE SHOULD BE SCREAMING IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS. We should not hesitate at all. Our leaders should be as well, of course, but it needs to start with us. If we scream it enough, they may grow the testicles/ovaries to join us.

Oh, and for anyone out there scratchig their heads: We told them so about Iraq, WMD, the economy, jobs, education, and Social Security, just to pick a few off the top of my head. And the average murican thinks WE DIDN'T. They don't have a clue. If we don't start changing that, we're going to be crying our eyes out one morning in November, 2006.

2. I second that! I know my son, who is about as apolitical a person
as you can ever find, says "I told you so" all the time to the Pubs who insisted Shrub was going to be a great Pres. I very rarely ever talk about politics with him because he just isn't interested in the subject. It seems that Mr Shrub has managed to drag out his anger though.

3. I certainly think our leaders should
be saying so.

If it is on an individual level and the R-person mentions one of these things with some hesitation and negativity, might be better to draw them out in a Socratic manner, gently point out how many people were fooled by Bush et al, how horrible it is that he didn't live up to their expectations of moderation, mention zealotry and lack of moderation, and then try to lasso them over to the side of the light.

4. Bump.
They're still in denial, though. They just don't get it that the country is in debt up to its ears and has a weak dollar AND a trade deficit. And Bush can't go anywhere in the world (Well, maybe the Slovak Republic) without having the public put under lock and key until he drags his sorry backside back to that Green Acres set in Crawford.

I work with someone who made a big thing about the fact that she earns more than anyone else in the department. Then she turns around and bitches that she makes less than her friends. The other day she was saying she was all for a flat tax.

She won't get it, not until it slaps her in the face or sends an engraved invitation.

9. Not too frequently one to pull punches, here.
If they made this bed of denial and misplaced devotion, they deserve to stretch out on it.

Mainly, my tone of voice is what changes, a LITTLE more gentle with those who are disillusioned. But I don't hesitate to say "um... well, you voted for this." When they see such fiascos as the Schiavo mess and the mounting war casualties, and then say "but I didn't vote for THAT..." I'm always glad to respond with "Oh YES you DID." They need to have it clearly presented that they did something wrong. The media certainly doesn't want to do this. Many of our reps are still hesitant, for fear of "offending" anybody. I say FUCK it. Votes for bush are offending enough to the entire United States of America - or what we used to know and recognize and love as the USA.

AND, another favorite of mine that I'm going to be rolling out as often as I can is a response to the semi-hysterical "9/11 changed everything!" I answer "well then, YOU are saying the terrorists won. That's EXACTLY what they were trying to do. And you bought it."

AND - beyond that, if they start prattling about all the wonderful democracy we've planted in Iraq and how worth it the war was, I respond that - "yes, we outsource jobs to China and India, and we outsource democracy to Iraq. But that's okay, since we sure aren't that interested in it here anymore."
