DeLay to face challenge in 2006
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/4/26/21627/5515

snip
Richard Morrison, who mounted an able challenge to Tom DeLay when it was a fool's errand, has dropped out of the race. His gracious retreat undoubtedly masked some serious arm-twisting by the DCCC, as former Rep. Nick Lampson had already announced his bid to take down the Bug man.

As for Lampson, he's got a tall order ahead of him, but this could turn into the most gratifying race of 2006.
Homeboy DeLay is going to have to spend every second of spare time fending off Lampson. And federal prosecutors. And ethics commissions. And irate voters.

Once he gets his 2006 website up, I will certainly be sending him some cash.

5. Yes, but . . .
His opponent got 41% in 2004, even though DeLay had something like 7 times as much cash as his opponent. Also, a recent poll of DeLay's district said only 49% of his district said they wanted to vote for him in 2006. I don't have a link, I just remember reading that. A candidate running a strong campaign could potentially beat him, but it would be tough as hell. He'll need all the help he can get.

3. Lampson may end up running unopposed!
Just some positive vibes. Several possibilities for delay. Resignation, jail time, censure. I think its fair to say that delay has very few positives in the near term future. I think it would be a good thing for America if DUers sent a buck or two each to Mr. Lampson when the time comes. Money well spent.
