Seems that according to Col. Clifford Acree an appeal to the Supreme Court to hear their case regarding payment for having been captured during the Gulf War has been rejected.
The Bush administration filed an appeal to reject payment of nearly a billion dollars for Torture after having been captured during the first Gulf War. The payment was awarded but then the administration stated they were not entitled to ANY compensation because the capture occurred during the previous Iraqi (Saddam's) Regime. And since that regime no longer exists they feel the money would be better spent on the CURRENT needs of the CURRENT war!!
Col. Clifford Acree who was captured for 48 days, subjected to torture, starvation and beatings along with 17 other American soldiers have been told that the Supreme Court WILL NOT hear their case!!!
As he states this was a law passed by the Congress and is in accordance with the Geneva Convention. Further he states that NO nation should be absolved of any liability for torture to others, especially in light of the fact that America has paid current Iraqis for torture.
I apologize if this subject has already been addressed, I searched but didn't get a hit on my search.
Gee, ain't we got a WUNDERFUL DICK-TATTER????
