Speed Voting? Anyone know the history?
I know the Patriot Act was rushed through without time to read the bill but at least there was some hysteria in the country. I'm watching the House talk about the budget. It is coming back from conference and the leadership is trying to force the vote today. I understand why they don't want people reading the bills but how common has the tactic been?

Should we be rushing a decision to spend 2 trillion dollars? The crisis is so urgent they have to wave the 3 day waiting period?

I think this should be called steroid politics!

Is this the norm or new to American democracy?
