Insiders Poll Predicts Clinton vs. Allen

A National Journal poll to be released tomorrow of "congressional and political insiders" finds Sen. George Allen (R-VA) ranked first among 2008 GOP presidential candidates and Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) ranked first among Democrats. Each of 215 insiders were asked to rank their top five choices.

On the Republican side, Allen finished with 229 combined points, while Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) finished second with 217, Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN) third with 184, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani fourth with 129 and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney fifth with 109 points.

On the Democratic side, Clinton led all Democrats with 388 points, followed by former Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) with 192, Virginia Gov. Mark Warner with 166, Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) with 125 and Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) with 90.

5. Right! The 2006 elections first and MEDIA reform now.
Actually We need to BE the media. And we need to start "selling" the positives on all possible candidates whether we personally "like' them or not; we do not want to give the other side ammunition. After all, unless we become the media, they'll have to fight an uphill battle against the republican spin propaganda networks.

9. Ray of Light: We are the media!
We are keeping one another informed, from all states! We tell family, neighbors, friends, chance-meetings... one by one our word of mouth get's out.

It's the only way we can battle propganda spin.

With you! Thanks!

26. lol--Well, the Americans are waking up to the neocon agenda
So we have to be consistant until 2006 and don't let them define us. We will define them as CORRUPT, as betrayers of the average American (Americanphiles!), and as dangerous to the American family and children.

27. That's it. "Consistant." DEFINING what CORRUPT is...
Quite frankly... the Rethugs are doing a great job on their own; problem is, these are people that watch Faux, and other news that are corp owned. So they don't hear the real deals happening.

Betrayers is right! Like a stinkin' cancer, seeping thru our bedroom communties, one Fake news brief at a time.

But we have to forgive them in a way. Do you know I only just woke up to the media's betrayal last year when I saw them rip Dean apart and KILL kerry with thier lies and innuendo.

Really, the best way to be the media is to write op-eds. To talk to everyone. WHy even last week I saw how the Repubican's are the media...

Guess what they did?

They had stamped on a dollar bill, which I saved of course, "Don't believe the liberal media."

Of course, mutilating government money didn't seem to bother them any, and I'm not recommending us break the law, but I hope you can see my point. They are the media!

19. I know... but without hope, we're screwing ourselves...and that's
what they want.

Think about it. Who wins when someone harms you, or hurts you and you're home crying? Not you... whomever harmed you wins in the end.

When we give-up hope, we basically do just that - give-up. We can't. If so, refer to top sentence, last line... who wins if we give up?

Agreed. 3 electorial machines owned by corp$$ need to STOP, NOW! Rep. Conyers and other's are tryig desperately to change things. If we can win in 2006 w/more dems in congress, it can be accomplished. That is why 2006 is so important to us. It's crucial.

16. I'm wondering exactly who these "insiders" are. National Journal
is certainly a respectable rag so i wouldn't expect them to bias the survey. Still...who are these kingmakers? Anyone here get a questionnaire?

24. Look through some threads at freeperville...
They think she's an unbelievably strong candidate and that they'd almost surely lose to her. They're afraid of her.

I think they actually think she's unbeatable.

I don't believe that, but it certainly explains why they want to take her down so quickly.

15. Allen Would Be Lucky To Get 125 Electoral Votes
The reaction would be "Who the Hell is he?" vs. one of the biggest stars out there. Not even Rove could quash that kind of name recognition disparity.

This is not to say I'm endorsing Hillary, but that would just be an obscenely unfair fight.

I don't know who all these alleged "Hillary" supporters are because I don't know any - not a one - nada - in person and maybe a handful on this board.

Let's make the "insiders" eat their words.

How the media loves to tell us what we will be doing, eating, voting for, etc....

It's sick and wrong.

Where in the fuck is my Democracy? I want it back, and I want it now!

The "insiders" can kiss my ass!

I didn't even know he was intersted in running. It seems the dem insiders don't want Kerry again but Edwards is doing surprisingly well.

Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 06:22 PM by Mass
So this is not surprising.

As for Allen, Republicans want him because they will be able to pilot him the same way they do with Bush. Karl Rove will have a new job.

33. No
I am talking about the Insider Polls in 2003-2004. Some people think that Kerry was the insiders'candidate, but the Insider polls were consistently against Kerry.

As I said before, they only reflect Washington and nothing else. I wonder who is polled (pundits and staffers, I would imagine).
