I Love Dean
I love Clark. I love the Clintons. I love Reid. I love Boxer and Pelosi. I love Obama. I love Rendell and Schweitzer. I really, really, really like Edwards and Kucinich. I even like Feinstein and Salazar a bit. And I am starting to like Kerry again, more and more, as time goes by.

In contrast, I cannot stand 98% of (s)elected Republicans, with the bare remainder being ones I can occasionally stomach or perhaps even grudgingly respect at certain times.

I don't understand all of the acrimony toward certain Democrats here. With the possible exception of Lieberman and the definite exception of Zell Miller, isn't every Democrat better than nearly all Republicans?

Must the perfect truly be the enemy of the good?

DTH

I have so much respect for him now. I was totally wrong about him during the primaries, as I've said numerous times before.

I totally agree, the only republican I can't stand is McCain, and he has been sucking a lot of bush you know what lately. Lets get one thing straight, Zell Miller is not a democrat, you cant want bush to win an election and believe every BS republican idea, and say you are a democrat. No one wants Zell Miller, hes a loon that has no idea about reality. Its like saying your a Yankee's fan, but wanting the red sox to win, and only supporting red sox players, and giving speeches at red sox games. Zell Miller you don't deserve to be on a show as good as Daily Show, beotch!!

5. I agree. Way to much fighting back and forth about Dems who we
should all support. I love them all and hope they are all successful and powerful advocates for the Democratic Party.

Say goodbye to the primary battles of 2004 and forget about the future primary battles of 2008. Focus on 2006.

I also don't expect to agree with every word they utter so we should cut them a little slack now and them.

But I do get your point.

12. My Mother raised me to be a democrat
Edited on Tue May-03-05 05:45 PM by MODemocrat
She had such a hard time making ends meet after my Dad died, when she had to face the real world, and she quickly learned the difference between Democrats and Republicans. I'm so thankful she showed me the right path to take. I'll never vote republican because nearly any democrat would be better.

O8) :dem: Thank you Mom, :loveya: and miss you so much. You were so smart.

29. Thanks for your response Crunchy Frog
We are both very fortunate having been raised by our wonderful democratic parents. What they gave to us is worth it's weight in gold.
It seemed to me that my Mom worked on nearly every election. Many of the local candidates knew her, and would come knocking on our door to get her support, and to work for them. She was a power house, raising
ten children as she did. My Dad was a hard worker, but wasn't nearly as involved in politics as my Mom; although he was very supportive of her.
 :dem: :hi: :patriot:

My parents were/are both Democrats, but were never really politically active. They were too busy with other things. They did instill good Democratic values in me though.

13. I really, really wish that Kerry were our President right now,
and that Edwards was our Vice President. That would have been so unbelievably awesome. Real brains, and class, and the ability to speak in whole, coherent sentences.

It still absolutely breaks my heart to think of what we could have had in place of that smirking chimp and his Dick.

15. I love most Democrats . .
You don't really appreciate the similarity and goodness until you live somewhere like here in Texas where Democrats have become scarce on the ground. My favorites on a national level are, in order, Wes Clark, Howard Dean, and John Kerry but there are very few, Zell Miller among them certainly, that I actively dislike.

I got to see Clark twice--once when he came here to Austin near the beginning of his campaign and later at a Dallas fundraiser (Hubba, Hubba)

Got to see Dean when he came here to Austin in conjunction with a course I took in grassroots politics last summer. Loved it.

Got to see Kerry just recently when he came to Austin; got his autograph on his bill summary on kids health care.

Even got to see Kucinich when he came to the Texas Democratic convention last year. And may I say, I thought he gave the best speech of anyone there.

I will turn out for almost any national Democratic figure who comes here. I want them all to come because I think it will help nourish the grassroots here--many people are mostly interested in the national ticket, but retaining their interest keeps them working on state and local campaigns too.

The restructuring and changing the party focus back to grassroots and locals instead of out-of-touch consultants is crucial if we're to ever win again.

25. I think it's just that we're all on the same side here
so we get to discuss (and criticize, as the case will be) our own party and those platforms, people, or votes in the party which we don't agree with.

If Repukes could post here we would spend all the time arguing with them and there would probably be less discussion or criticism of our own party b/c we'd be constantly battling the other side. I think it's a sign of the safeness here as a Dem. that allows us to self-critique.

It's the same way I am more than willing to talk about those things I *didn't* like about Clinton w/ my friends who are also liberal - but I wouldn't talk negative shit about Clinton to a Repuke.

But yes, any dem is better than a rep, except possibly Zell. :)

31. I'm a Dean fan myself...
and very glad he is chair. I also have a ton of respect for Kucinich. I think Clinton was a great president. I think Kerry ran a good race and would and should have been a great president. I think Obama is quality. I think Edwards is a very respectable politician who is moving in a positive direction. I think that although Clark has needed some time to "learn the ropes," I think he has and will continue to contribute very much to the Democratic Party. I think Gore has shown a lot of leadership in the party. I think my hamsters are the cutest two animals to ever grace the earth. They are Democrats as well, so I thought it only fair to include them in the list.

And no one is worshipping "idols" or giving people passes on issues. I will bust people's chops on issues all day long. But I'm also not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater on the occasional vote where I disagree with someone who is generally on my side.
