DNC Chairman Howard Dean says Georgia still in play for Dems
This Georgian sure hope so.

ATLANTA - Howard Dean, the former presidential candidate now heading the national Democratic Party, says Georgia could "shape up as pretty important" to his party in next year's elections despite its drift into the Republican column.

"We've got an important governor's race I think we can win and important congressional races," Dean said Tuesday in an interview in advance of a swing through Atlanta for a "low-dollar," $50-per-person party fund-raiser.

snip--

Once a safely Democratic state, Georgia elected a Republican governor for the first time since Reconstruction in 2002. The Legislature now is under Republican control and both U.S. senators are Republican.

snip--

Dean said he sees an opportunity for Democrats to regain the governor's office "because the governor's run up the largest debt in the history of Georgia, people are really worried about education and I think they're really worried about the progress of the state."

(same old rhetoric by repugs since they know nothing else.)
Marty Klein, a spokesman for Georgia Republicans, said, "Howard Dean is the perfect poster-child for the modern Democratic Party in Georgia - liberal and angry. We welcome him to Georgia anytime he wants to come and discuss the extreme liberal views he shares with candidates like Mark Taylor and Cathy Cox."

12. Yep -- exactly (or close enough ) to what I was going to say
GA is only in play if we can get control of the voting machines. Of course, it's possible that Dem Cathy Cox COULD win -- she's been Diebold's poster child for these damn machines, and they are probably interested in making sure she is amply rewarded and stays "true."

I've tried very hard to make sure Howard Dean knew the score on the machines. I spent several months writing a 50-page white paper that I spent $100 to personally get into his hands, and the time before this when he was in GA I reminded him of it and reiterate the problem. I know he read the report, and it was hard-hitting enough that it put me in panic attacks several times as I was writing it, seeing all that in one place, up close and personal. I didn't even understand at first what I was experiencing.

In any caase, for some reason, he's just not totally buying it. I love him dearly, but this is one of my (few) really BIG beefs with him.

Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 08:49 PM by emcguffie
I've been asking, on and off, not much lately, for someone to do this with ... for a while.

But if you wanted to put together a presentation and go see Dean, if we could grab another soul or two, I would do it in a heartbeat. But I'm not one of the statistics people. Even so, I understand the "sittyation "without too much brain strain.

I just need to be able to plan ahead of time.

41. TIA would be great and perhaps others from that forum as well
as Hedda_Foil who stays pretty busy with her pursuits so is hardly ever around here. She's co-founder of the Voting Integrity Project and God knows what else. Was very instrumental along with DUer IdaBriggs in getting the recounts going. Etc.

If you have a way to make that happen, those are the folks to include. I've done my bit, and haven't been keeping up like I once did, so as much as I'd love to see him again, really have nothing to offer such an effort.

Go for it!

Why would people want to elect someone with his record?

Sounds like he's a loser waiting for the election to just make it final.. ;)

11. What is weird is Richmond County's machines went for Kerry.
And it is known as one of the most Conservative counties in the state!!!

When I put my foil hat on, somthing tells me "they" did not think to rig those machines because they thought it was "in the bag", but the usual Republican voters went off script.

have a lot of blacks, though. The county that had the greatest percent of voters for Gore in the country was the county in Alabama that the Tuskeegee institute is located in.

14. Dean nor do any of the Georgia Dems Get it
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 06:35 PM by rigel99
Cathy Cox is part of the problem. She's a Zealot, a Zell Miller Democrat.

Dean thinks we can vote democrats into office when 132 years of democratic history has reversed in Georgia. And his DNC won't spend a penny on election reform in Georgia but 500K in Ohio... that sounds like putting all your eggs in one basket.

Dean is as disconnected from election fraud as anyone. Here are 2 images you should see.. it's from Bibb county. DRE Machines FAILED TO ACCUMULATE election night , eating 79 votes. Look in right column for the

The entire voter's ballots for 302 voters were just wiped out. That affected MANY LOWER RACES where that many votes constituted the 5 or 10% to determine the race....

State House Dist. 140 was determined by 2 votes (could 79 lost votes have affected that race)? yes!!! Did they do a recount? Yes, but in a DRE machine world, there's nothing to recount, no paper, and NO WAY TO FIND THE LOST VOTES- SO they said the recount came up with exact same totals!!! what the feck?.... so Joan Dixon the incumbent democrat was screwed by DRE machines. period. She probably won by a landslide. And we will have to move to recalling candidates to get the proper press attention

This is the stuff we need to get into dean's hands...

and many others if we just put on our thinking cap.... now it's time to brainstorm.... plenty of backbone democrats in this state....

16. Here's why Cathy Cox is not Such an Angel
She's denying Georgia citizens valid access to open government records such as the Diebold CD that represents the citizen's ballot data.

This is critical that she stop telling counties to break open records rules and give up the information we need to prove election fraud in DRE machines once and for all....

I'm not as big a fan of Mark Taylor either and would hope Georgians find a stronger Dem candidate to run for Governor, but I'd also say don't waste your time if Diebold is running the elections, Perdue will get a rubberstamp if Diebold is running the show...

Same old stuff from the Republican politburo. Why shouldn't people be angry about the situation the Repugs have created. They can't call our views extreme, with all their theocratic and borderline fascist rhetoric and ideas. Georgia is an important state that we can't continue to write off.
