4 Great Conservative/Republican Contradictions
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 06:51 PM by demwing
1)Working For A Living

A)Poor people who get welfare are lazy and pathetic, and should be ashamed that they don't work for a living

but

B) We need to get rid of the "death tax," because rich people have a right to ensure that their children will never have to work for a living.

2) Not With My Family!

A) Mentioning that the VP's daughter is openly a lesbian is rude, and an infringement on the Cheney family's privacy.

but

B) Insinuating that Hillary Clinton is a lesbian because she once touched a lesbian's head is a public service. The public has a right to be informed!

3) Supporting Our Troops

A) Democrats hate our troops, Republicans honor and love them.

but

B) The truth is that Democratic presidents have fought and won all of our major wars, and the last war waged by a Democratic president resulted in ZERO American casualities. Furthermore, the wages and benefits of our soldiers have been cut extensively by Republican presidents. Actually, saying that the Democrats hate our troops is not a contradiction. It's a damn lie.

4) Wrapped In A Flag

A) Despite all of the above--all the greed, all the hate, all the lies, and all the abuses of power--CONservatives still believe that they have the moral highground in America. They wrap themselves in the flag, using it as a shield to cover their treasons.

but

B) Real patriots carry a flag, and sometimes even burn a flag, if they need to make a point. They never hide behind a flag.

My conclusion?

Conservativism is morally and ethically contrary to the American spirit, and I see no contradiction in that statement.

2. It is the great double standard.
If you're in power, everything you do is ok. If you're not, everything you do is wrong.

3. Democratic judicial nominees who are minorities are unqualified -
No matter much support or how much experience they have - because they are minorities.

Yet, Republican judicial nominees who are minorities are more than qualified - no matter how much out of the mainstream they are or how many times they've had their judgments overturned - BECAUSE they are minorities.

10. We need to be part of the World Trade Organization..
and the International Monetary Fund but we need to stay out of the International Criminal Court. We don't need to be in the United Nations unless we have something we want them to do.

12. Amnesty International is spot on about Saddam Hussein
But is a partisan menace when it calls Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib and other such facilities the new gulag.
