Iraqi Lawmakers Call for Foreign Troops to Withdraw

this is an 'ignored' news story

http://www.defensenews.com/story.php?F=925971&C=mideast

Iraqi lawmakers from across the political spectrum called for the withdrawal of foreign forces from their country in a letter released to the media June 19.

Eighty-two Shiite, Kurdish, Sunni Arab, Christian and communist deputies made the call in a letter sent by Falah Hassan Shanshal of the United Iraqi Alliance (UIA), the largest group in parliament, to speaker Hajem al-Hassani.

Some of those who signed urged that a detailed timetable be established for the withdrawal.

In the letter, Shanshal said the 275-member parliament was the Iraqi people’s legitimate representative and guardian of their interests.

”We have asked in several sessions for occupation troops to withdraw,” the letter said. “Our request was ignored.”

3. "COUNTRIES TO PULL TROOPS “IF ASKED”"
source: http://www9.sbs.com.au/theworldnews/region.php?id=85190®ion=6

The governments of the United States, Britain, Italy and Japan say they would pull their troops from Iraq if the new interim authority that is to take control of the country after June 30 (2004) asks them to.

The four countries stated their position after a meeting of the Group of Eight foreign ministers in Washington, the first time coalition members have indicated what they would do in such a case.

However US Secretary of State Colin Powell said it is highly unlikely they will be asked to leave.

"Were this interim government to say to us, we really think we can handle this on our own and it will be better if you were to leave, we will leave," said Mr Powell. He added he has no doubt the interim Iraqi government would welcome the continued presence and operation of the US-led coalition's military forces.

"So I'm losing absolutely no sleep thinking that they might ask us to leave during this interim period while we're building up their forces," he said.

4. Ah yes, finally the exit strategy that Bush could use to save his sorry
ass! I've been waiting for this for awhile now. This is the only way that Bush could attack another country, appear victorious and continue his agenda.
