Lest anyone is tempted to fall for the LIE that Cheney
wasn't involved or interested in Wilson's trip to Niger.

Here are Novak's own words from the column in which he outed Plame.

<snip>

"Wilson's mission was created after an early 2002 report by the Italian intelligence service about attempted uranium purchases from Niger, derived from forged documents prepared by what the CIA calls a "con man." This misinformation, peddled by Italian journalists, spread through the U.S. government. The White House, State Department and Pentagon, and NOT JUST VICE-PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY,(emphasis mine) asked the CIA to look into it."

And, here is some of his further explantion in a later column as to why he used Plame's name.

<snip>
At the CIA, the official designated to talk to me denied that Wilson's wife had inspired his selection but said she was delegated to request his help. He asked me not to use her name, saying she probably never again will be given a foreign assignment but that exposure of her name might cause "difficulties" if she travels abroad. He never suggested to me that Wilson's wife or anybody else would be endangered. If he had, I would not have used her name. I used it in the sixth paragraph of my column because it looked like the missing explanation of an otherwise incredible choice by the CIA for its mission.

NOVAK WAS TOLD NOT TO USE HER NAME---HE DID IT ANYWAY---PRICK!

1. What Kind of "Difficulties" Did He THINK Were Being Referred to?
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 01:33 PM by ribofunk
and which of those would be acceptable as a price for blowing someone's cover? Geez.

4. That's right..
he didn't care if she was going to have "difficulty"--regardless of what kind they were ("If I had known it would have endangered lives...) That's a bunch of Novak BS.

2. If he was told not to use her name/mention her
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 01:36 PM by Beaver Tail

3. Exactly,
SOMEBODY knew she was covert, and outed her--and, the fact that Rove found out about it, means somebody higher up than he knew it--Rove didn't have that kind of security clearance.

5. Valerie did NOT suggest her hubby. She was recruited to recruit him.
The CIA got her involved in bringing Wilson on board. That makes much more sense. We need someone to do this. Our girl Valerie is married to a Bush-acceptable diplomat. Ask her to ask him.

6. What? So Novak was trying to plead innocence by saying
"Well, the CIA didn't say don't publish the name of a covert operative." Of course, if they had, they would be revealing the identity of a covert operative.

:grr:

7. Bingo!
And, read both of those articles about how WONDERFUL Bush, Sr. thought he was as Ambassador to Iraq. Called him a damn "HERO."

9. I believe..
what he said about Cheney wanting the CIA to look into it--and, I believe that Cheney was involved in outing Plame. I'm just using Novak's own words against him. IMO, Novak is a traitor.
