A 2nd place is just fine.

11. No, it isn't just fine
New Hampshire is a must win state for Dean; anything short of the gold medal will devastate his candidacy.

Remember, Dean is from neighboring Vermont. If he gets beat in his own backyard, how the hell is he going to beat Bush?

16. well Massachusetts is right there, also
so I don't buy your argument.

I think if he is pretty close - it is fine for now. Then we'll see what happens, next.

2. not just the secret weapon
i have talked to so many people who have said- well, i don't know if i like dean that much, or, i like _________, but this whole thing is crazy. the spin is so blatant that even the sheeple can see it.
this is why so many people are embracing the howl. yes, some of the people mixing it are making fun, but the people are listening to them with glee.

5. I think it generated a helluva lotta sympathy/empathy for Dean.
I felt horrible for him; 'cause it was so bogus.
Just pouncing on an exhausted man who had a bad day.

6. As a couple of folks predicted, the psychology of voters is difficult....
to predict and plays a large part in how people will vote. A lot of people did feel somewhat manipulated by the media and this created some sympathy/empathy for Howard Dean. And the "scream" is likely to turn into a positive for Howard Dean...

7. could it be the PrimeTime tapes of Howard and Judy (120,000)
that people see who Dr's Dean really are.

8. Good for him
The media falsely bashed him last Monday. I am categorically against the three Senators that sat in the Senate and voted for the Patriot Act and IWR and did not speak up on the tax cuts or the judicial appointments or the Iraqi war- well, at least until Dean showed the way. They got to the Senate with Big Money and represent Big Money. They could not even vote down a bloated $820 billion appropriations bill for being bloated, much less the OT rewritings.

I hope Dean zings Kerry.

10. If Dean closes in 2nd it will be huge
if Dean wins NH it will be a total debunking of the media whores.

FYI, I think the other big story will be the horrible showing of Clark.

12. Anyone wanna make a bet?
That at least one of the losers of NH, whether it be Clark, Edwards, or Kerry, will have a very enthusiastic, crowd/supporter inspiring speech instead of the normal 'We did well under the circumstances and we will do better in the next one' speech?

Once again, I believe Dean set a standard which others will mimic. Maybe not adding the scream, but I do expect a bit of rabble-rousing. Dean leads.

14. Only one poll has Dean "closing" on Kerry
There are about six other polls that have Kerry ahead by ten or fifteen points. One poll even has Kerry with a twenty-point lead

17. But, from the polls I've seen, Dean is trending upwards
Which, being this close to the actual voting during a primary race, is all you can really take away from the polls. People has less resistance to switching their vote in a primary than in a general election which makes any poll a bit wonky. A Dean supporter today can become an undecided or Edwards supporter tomorrow and then a Kerry supporter the next day. So all we can really count on is the direction a candidate is moving in.
