How bad could they be?
The photos and the video tapes from Abu Ghraib, how bad are they? I guess Myers came out and said they are bad enough to cause a serious international backlash against our troops and weaken our efforts world-wide. He of course doesn't mention what may happen here in the Republican controlled U.S.; a 38% approval rating may look like good numbers soon. I of course expect them to be bad. I expect to be outraged. I expect to feel terrible. What I didn't expect was Myers agreeing before they are released just how terrible they may be. How bad could they be?

Myers: Release Of Abu Ghraib Prison Photos Could Cause Riots

POSTED: 10:35 pm EDT August 12, 2005
UPDATED: 10:44 pm EDT August 12, 2005

NEW YORK -- The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff warns that releasing photos and videotapes of detainee abuse at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison could have serious consequences.

Gen. Richard Myers contends in recently unsealed court documents that the release of such information would aid al-Qaida recruitment, weaken governments in Iraq and Afghanistan, and incite riots against U.S. troops.

The American Civil Liberties Union wants 87 photographs and four videotapes taken at the prison released as part of a lawsuit it filed in 2003.

The group is seeking information on the treatment of detainees in U.S. custody and about the transfer of prisoners to countries known to use torture.

3. They're bad enough that Sy Hersh said the
worst is the sound of the children screaming. Gen. Myers is high in the food chain on this one and he's trying to save his ass and his pension...he'll lose both if these pics. come to light.

5. I suspect they're concerned less about Iraq's reaction than...
The reaction of the rest of the world, including their sheep at home. Doubtless, they are concerned they might not have enough stormtroopers on the ground and REX 84 concentration camps to detain all those who "express concern."

Perhaps they're preparing to implement a "final solution" for the presence of the "insufficiently pro-war" among their constituents at Ft. Monroe.
