Shit like this makes me SO ANGRY!
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 07:36 PM by SoCalifer

WTF is wrong with yahoo? I will NEVER use yahoo ever again after seeing this racism. No amount of apologies or excuses will suffice. They are preeminently banned as far as I am concerned.

1. Not that they shouldn't have caught it before putting it on their
news, but they have apologized for this. Seems Yahoo doesn't caption the photos, they just pass them on; the captions were done by the AP, but I totally agree with you - as a white person, this is just plain unacceptable and embarrassing. Our government put these poor people in this situation and this is no time for this kind of racism.

7. If the captions were done by AP, as you say,
that means the "finding" caption must have been done by AFP (Agence France Press), and the "looting" caption by AP (Associated Press).

So perhaps that explains the difference in attitude. I was wondering who supplied the captions.

6. Don't be objective.....shit - everyone I know says it couldn't be
clearer than about race & class.

Some folks (white) who were staying near or in a hotel (it was on 'Countdown with Olbermann' asked people in SUVs that were leaving with room in their vehicles from the hotel for rides and were refused.

All I keep thinking is "what goes around, comes around." Like one of them, 'where's the help? where's our fellow americans getting up off of their butts and driving down here in convoys?' (paraphrasing).

Ever since the Democratic presidential campaign, I have gained such respect for Al Sharpton. Already deeply respected Dennis Kucinich, Carol Mosely-Braun, Howard Dean - John Edwards (more than Kerry). (No, I wouldn't have voted for Kerry; only did because he was the candidate.)

4. KOlbermann@msnbc.com, for Anderson you have to log onto
his show, and then give "feedback", i.e. type in web-adresses, etc. Just did that on another post. I'd do this for both, but maybe it should come from another source, rather than one "whack-job".

5. "finding bread from a local grocery store" is improper english even
Taking from, looting from, stealing from all work. "Finding at" works, and it is obvious to me that they changed the term from "?" to finding.
