10. because I could literally spend a whole day voting in and tracking results
of stupid online polls and did NOTHING to make my country better. It's just a waste. just my opinion.

maybe we should have a poll about it.

12. I think when we know a fax tree goes out to "day traders" everywhere
every time a poll is posted - and the freepers post... I think it is the responsibility of Americans elsewhere to be aware. Polls are used as tools to influence public opinion at this stage in Karl Rove's "metamorphosis".

Exit polls are fooled with too in "important electoral districts". It is our right and responsibility to be aware of this and act. Unless you were not american then I could see perhaps ethics coming into play. And only in an emergency would you answer a poll directed at Americans.

15. Come on guys - don't listen to anyone who tells us to stand down.
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 08:18 PM by applegrove
We are fighters. Even if the polls are set up like:

Did Bush stand down when he should have acted on Katrina? Pick one:

0 He did okay

0 He was late, but didn't mean anything by it

0 He didn't want to go into debt

0 He didn't realize how serious the levy break would be

0 He could have done better

0 He didn't have the right information

0 He was incompetent

0 He was willfully neglectful

0 Katrina had the potential to pay off with political & corporate profits so "burn baby, burn"

the results are so anti-Bush and starts to THINK for themself, it's worth it. I will DU any poll I am asked to.

17. disagree, as long as the results of online polls are taken seriously
by the media who report them and the viewers who watch. It's PR.

I don't think DUing polls is particularly important, but as long as one is online anyway, it doesn't do any harm and might do a little bit of good.

19. I'll tell you what's stupid
It's these damn polls asking stupid questions that is a waste of time. It's the polls that DUers put up in here that they make up themselves. I don't have time for all this ridiculous crap. I will DU all online polls that is posted here about the idiot in thief to help get OUR message out,but not the goofy ones.

20. you have my agreement on the "stupid polls" by DUers
what does it accomplish? I don't know...some of them are funny. but I think much fo DU activity is GREAT it really gets people together and gets TRUTH out there in a rapid response kind of way.

but we need more activists--not more poll takers.

23. what's fucking stupid is
the people who depend on these polls to make up their minds about things. Yes, they don't accomplish anything right away, and yes, some of us might substitute them for actual action, but what I've seen of the courage of many people on here, I seriously doubt that this is the case. But ordinary non-political savvy people SEE these polls and ARE influenced by them. If they are bent our way, that can only help US. I DU polls as often as possible. You can bet Barb's fake pearls on freepers doing the exact same thing. Not all of us are emotionally or physically or financially or insert reason here able to do more to save this country from those filthy people in a more substantial way. ANYTHING we do HELPS. Is one thing better than another? Sure. But we do what you can, and we can do this. Anything we do is better than apathy. Apathy is what is fucking stupid. They want apathy, they NEED apathy. They want us to be overwhelmed. They're BULLIES. They can fall if kicked hard and often in the right places. KEEP KICKING.

24. Let's see now...
If we "DU" a poll to make it bend our way, and the freepers are "freeping" it to try to shift it theirs, who is left that the poll is supposed to influence?

When I post a "please DU this poll" on here, it's always from our local NBC affiliate here in Anchorage.

I don't ask the DU family all that often.. but when it's a great question, I do!

They ask the question during the 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. editions, then they broadcasts the results across the entire state of Alaska LOUD and CLEAR.

It's awesome!!!! DU pitches in and you should see the beaming smiles of the folks on the news station as they proudly boast the results!!!

Aside from our local polls.. I love DU'ing polls! Makes me feel good to know that I'm able to knock down the freepnoids who have hit it hard

Also.. I figure if you don't like to DU polls, you just avoid those posts  ~~ Easy as that! :)

31. It depends upon what the meaning is of DUing a poll
If it is used in the same context as Freeping a poll then I agree with you. If it is meant to get all at DU to visit a poll and cast their one and only vote then what is wrong with that? I don't know if any of these polls have any relevance at all as I do not watch MSM but who knows it very well may.
