My campaign web site
My campaign web site is finally off the ground. Yes, it's still a work-in-progress, and the "Issues and Ideas" section is still being assembled, but we are making headway.

Stop by and say hello.

Note to mods: This isn't intended as a fundraising pitch.

2. Manchester, NEW Hampshire - cool - now to get the Union Leader
endorsement (I thought that would make you laugh! :-) )

It is great that you are making the run.

Who is the Congressman you are running against - Sunnunu?

In any case - Good Luck and God Speed!

:-)

:toast:

:-)

6. NH-1
I'm running against Jeb Bradley. Jeb is a Republican from Wolfeboro, serving his second term. he was a semi-moderate in the NH House, but has drifted hard to the right and been a loyal DeLayican since going to Washington three years ago.

This is the seat that Sununu held before moving up to the Senate. Ironically, he defeated another former 1st district congresman, Bob Smith, in his primary.

The seat has had two Democratic congressmen in recent memory. Ollie Huot held it for a single term from 1964-1966. Norm D'Amours held the seat for five terms, from 1974 to 1984, when he gave up the seat to run for US Senate.

The Dems came close to winning the seat in 1996 and 2000, but sputtered the last two cycles. Kerry pulled about 49% of the vote here, so the numbers aren't impossible by any stretch of the imagination.

A vigorous campaign by a moderate-liberal, reformist, Catholic Democrat can put this seat in play. I feel that I can combine a geographic base in Manchester with a Tsongas/Clinton style message that has great appeal in the suburban commuter belt.

3. Clean and basic is good.
You're on the right track there. Too much "slickness" makes a person wonder about substance.

From being out there in the trenches myself (KS pre-cinct coordinator, peace activist, etc.), may I suggest some Populist notes. There are things about Populism that reach across those lines that many of us have been wondering about lately in re why some members of the working-poor continue to vote against their own self-interest.
