5. Did anyone watch it? I watched some of it.

Kilgore looks like an evil cross between Don Knotts and Mr. Rogers. It was bizarre.

They really attacked Kaine with some of the questions...one was about a Doug Wilder quote casting Richmond as totally corrupt (Kaine was Mayor there).

Kaine did very well, and seemed mostly like a normal guy. Kilgore seemed shifty and possible malevolent.

Kilgore threw around the L-word, saying that Kaine is no Mark Warner, and tried to say that Kaine's support for a moratorium on the death penalty blames law enforcement instead of criminals.

All that aside, I don't think Virginia wants another Republican governor...they've had a taste of good governance, and I doubt they will go back this time around.

Late last night I watched the debate for a second time. Kilgore was so weak and squirmy with a ridiculous grin and funny mouth and, of course, that tender voice. It was driving me nuts to come up with a comparison to an entertainer. Finally I thought of Pee Wee Herman and posted that here, definitely some similarities just not ideal. Later I came up with Mr. Rogers but that was extraordinarily cruel to Mr. Rogers. Damn, I never thought of Don Knotts. You nailed it perfectly.

10. I watched part of this debate from Iowa

and WOW are these two going at each other.

As a Democrat I'm obviously in favor of Kaine, but Kilgore performed as nothing more than a hate-monger and vicious asshole. Kaine at least answered some of the questions instead of just spitting venom at Kilgore. They both spent more time attacking each other than I would have liked to have seen, but I don't know what Kaine was supposed to do with Kilgore spewing garbage the whole time.
