Will McCain lure the disillusioned righties back to the fold?
How will a presidential bid by McCain hurt us? If the GOP loses either the house or senate in 2006 how will that change who the GOP nominee will be?

5. There is no a single Democratic candidate who
doesn't have more ability to lead than McCain. (While he was defrauding America with the Keating 5, Kerry was going after corrupt banks - which way do you want to go?)

McCain is totally over rated.

4. I've said this Repukes won't run McCain he's isn't a PNAC backer
And he's an Irish-Catholic which means he is a witch who should be burnt in hell.

At least that's what the fundies who make up the vast majority of the repukes believe.

7. Will McCain lure the disillusioned righties back to the fold? NO
McCain is not one of them, and he can't suddenly become one of them. They are disillusioned with the entire political process now. They have fought and positioned for a grab of the Supreme Court seat for two decades.

Getting a chance to replace O'Connor, THE SWING VOTE on so many social issues, and then seeing it drift away - they are badly, horribly demoralized.

And being the prick I am, I just love that!!

8. I'm worried more about him luring back center-lefties
I belong to another board, not a political site but one with a political bulletin board. I can't tell you how many Dems and even full-on liberals drool over the prospect of a President McCain. I keep asking them why and showing them his ACU rating (mid-80s, compared to Chafee's mid-50s). I never really get good straight answers. I think that because he periodically takes a stand on things against the conservative agenda, he is able to pass himself off as a moderate, which he certainly is not.

10. I think he's running and
I think he will be a formidable opponent if his health is up to the long campaign.
