Will Katrina cause the Democrats in 2006 and 2008? Proposed tax cuts?
Katrina's devastation of loss of life first and foremost, destruction of communities as well as families and loss of jobs, is a horror this country cannot allow to happen again. It should have never happened in the first place, but that blame game will go on forever. No one will accept responsibility, but those who know they are guilty have to live with it . . . if they can.

These poor people, who had to be in some kind of shock, were shuffled off to different states all over the country. This was done in an almost suspiciously strategic manner. IMHO.

I feel Katrina will also affect the Democratic Party in 2006 and 2008. These people are trying to get their lives back, a home, find family members, find work, etc. I think the last thing on their minds is going to be registering to vote and actually voting. And we are talking of over a million or more people.

Also, I listened on WJ this morning and some Repuke Senator was talking about what they are calling the "Hastert Plan" for cuts in the Budget.

Now this is not only unbelievable, these cuts (if passed) will affect the same people who are poor, elderly, and lower middle class. The same that suffered the worst from Katrina.

The GOP call these "entitlement programs." Like something they are giving the people. Most of the cuts are in Medicare. Well, that's a surprise, huh.

I do not know about you all, but I paid taxes (and continue to) all my life . . . just like everyone else I know that works. We pay our part into Social Security Retirement as well as Medicare now, and we don't even use it. However, once we retire, we will still have to pay for our Medicare (if anything is still there) . . . but they are giving us this, it's an entitlement . . . they can kiss my ass. They are not giving the American People anything. Everything they make a budget with comes from the money WE, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, pay in taxes . . . including their retirement benefits which, by the way, aren't being cut.

How dare they stand up and say THEY are giving us anything. We vote them in there and then our taxes pay their $100,000+ salaries a year. Also, if a lot of them are like Frist (who sold his stock at a very suspicious time), or Cheney who still owns over 400,000+ stock in Halliburton. Halliburton stock has doubled in value since the war. Isn't there something wrong with this picture?

I just hope the Republicans out there who voted this bunch into power are happy what they have done to our country? I'm sure these cuts will affect you or some member of your family. Just like the war has. This "Bush is such a good, God-fearing man" BS don't flush anymore. The invoking of the Lord's name every time one of these cronies hits the TV talk shows is sickening as well. They have seen how well using religious terms has worked for Bush, now every one of them "Thank God," "pray," "invoke a passage in the Bible,"our found fathers based our constitution on Judeo-Christian principals, etc, which is absolute BS. So do they all go to the same church on Sunday? I don't think so. Bush goes to a catholic church and he is supposedly methodist. Figure that one out?

This administration has used our fears against us after 9/11 and continue to do it. They have invoked God's name every time we turn around and I'm sure God has nothing to do with their decisions because they are decisions without conscience. They call Katrina "ACT OF GOD!" I thought a hurricane was an act of nature. They use the term "Biblical Proportions," for everything that has happened as far as "natural disasters (what they call them)are concerned. Then when they get in front of the American People these are no longer natural disasters, they are ACTS OF GOD. Even some of these so-called Christian (DeLay) Congressman say we are being punished by God. Jerry Falwell says it's because of the murder of all of the babies in this country. Pat Robertson says, besides assassinating certain people, that God talks to him. He has referred to himself as a "Prophet." Rod Parsley calls himself a "Profit," and introduces a lot of his guest speakers as so.

This was longer than I had planned. I only planned to address Katrina but I guess I had to vent a little too.

Lastly, I just want the freepers that read this to admit Bush has helped them. That Bush's policies are fair to everyone. That Bush believes in "Corporate Welfare" but they are going to get rid of programs they call "entitlement programs" to pay for the rebuilding of New Orleans?

By the way, where is the almost Billion dollars of donated money from all over this country went? I believe these people have some kind of money coming to them. Housing - yes, Food - yes, transportation - yes; however, you only hear of these things in other states.

New Orleans, from what I have read recently, was full of corruption before Katrina, what is going to happen when the money starts rolling in? Better be careful. These guys were able to lose 9 Billion in Iraq and said it was bad accounting. They may do the same thing here, especially with no oversight.
