When did Bush last speak with 'non-selected' Americans?
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 08:00 AM by harlinchi
I really wonder when was the last time our president, the president of the entire United States, the man whose salary is paid by all Americans has actually spoken to an audience where all Americans had a chance to hear him speak (to the extent that his utterings constitute speech)?

Isn't there something inherently cowardly about this? Why does the media allow this to continue unmentioned, or mentioned in ways so insignificant as to be almost unremembered?

Have other presidents done this to the extent that our president does?

1. 1999? Yes, there is something inherently cowardly about it.
Un-democratic and Un-American.

3. If I wished to attend, I would do some research.
I am certain that if I was prevented from entering, there would be some law somewhere that entitled me to attend.

Equipped with that, I would call the local police and file a complaint.

It is little more than fascist methodology to do that. I have a right to be wherever any President speaks.

6. I've thought that way all along too. I wouldn't walk across the
street to see the SOB but, if I did want to, I should have the right to. Even I had every Kerry button ever existed on. He is the President of the United States, paid for by us, Democrat and Republican, and we should be able to see him or listen to him, if we desire. NO ONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP US OUT.

11. I don't really want to attend one of his speeches.
I'm just sick of seeing those oblivious crowds, apparently supporting this man, giving flesh to the lie that he is a popular president.

5. This guy cannot connect four words to make a sentence.
His cronies cannot allow him to speak to a random audience and certainly cannot allow it to be unscripted. Look what happened last week during the "live" Iraq conference. I can't even stand to watch him speak,...3 words...look at prompter...3 more words...uh...prompter...4 words...quick peek... you get my drift. He just can't do it! I don't know if its cowardice on his part or on the part of his handlers. Either way, you will never get him to speak other than before a hand-chosen group, OK'D questions.

7. There were the debates...
where he looked and sounded like an imbecile. You might recall that he nearly flew off the handle when someone from the audience asked him a question about health care.

"Isn't there something inherently cowardly about this?"
Hell, it's overtly cowardly.

14. The last time I can think of a nonscripted event
was way back in 1999 when he was starting to run...he was on the radio talking about foreign affairs; the host asked him to name any foreign leader anywhere...and he couldn't do it.

8. Or unselected people from anywhere
Big Dog would wade through crowds of people anywhere in the world. * is too stupid and cowardly to face anyone who might ask him a question he doesn't like.

9. Imagine him at an unscripted forum
Within 10 minutes he would be slobbering, leaning, sweating, and swearing. Plus, now I believe he is drunk or on HEAVY medication whenever he's awake.

15. You know Clinton did it, but let me tell you about when I went to see
Poppy Bush. EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the crowd had to go through a metal detector. I had seen previous presidents, but had never seen such security.

It was, however, still more of a normal crowd of Americans than the groups Junior speaks to.

You can throw stones at Clinton for staying somewhat insulated from dissent, but Junior has taken it to new heights. The people of Mainz, Germany were not even allowed to LOOK OUT THEIR WINDOWS as Junior's motorcade rode by. In Chile, a state dinner had to be cancelled because Junior's security demanded that all the attendees, including such persons as the head of Chile's highest court, be required to undergo search/metal detector.

I certainly love the innocence with which you ask that last question, "Have other presidents done this?" You sure are a bright-faced little ingenue...

16. I guess I should have done a little googling first!
But I know I'd get good stuff from y'all. Lazy? Yup, admittedly! But I really didn't know Clinton did this at all. Thanks.
