Because damnit, I don't.
We have some great Democratic leaders in Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi who have both express the need for our idiot-in-chief to set a timetable for pulling our troups out of Iraq. Small problem - they're both minority leaders.
Last time I check - legislation is decided on by the majority leaders of the party and right now we don't have it.
So beg and plead all you want but right now Bill Frist, Mitch McConnell, Dennis Hassert and whoever that puppet is that Tom Delay picked for his Majority seat position all collectively together don't give a flying shit what any of us want when it comes to the war. Beg, Plead, Cry, Protest, Camp outside their office do whatever. When Bush read that cheesyass fake letter to the Naval Cadets you just know that we're in this war until they damn well feel like ending it.
So why the fuck are we trying to help them by practically giving up one of the absolutely fucking positive wins we have in 2006? Sure it's Joe Lieberman and you know what, I can't stand the asshole either. But Lieberman has never once indicated he would cross party lines and repukes surely aren't interested in a Pro-Choice/Pro-Environment senator on their team (look what they did to Jeffords).
So do yourself a favor. We are ALL itching to get involved in this campaign - find a couple of them where we could make a difference. My goal is to promote Lois Murpher, Brian Lentz, Patrick Murphy, and Chris Carney, all running for vulnerable republican house seats in PA, as much talk as I can on DU and anywhere I go (And also to Allyson Schwartz but she's already in office). I also plan to get involved with whomever the eventual primary winner is of the PA Senate race because maybe we don't like Lieberman but damn he's my best friend compared to the likes of Joe Lieberman.
We are getting the people lined up to at least get us a Majority. That still won't get us out of Iraq but at least we have the momentum on ourside and we'll work hard to pressure every single senator/represenative to join in demanding a timeline. Sure, we'll lose a few votes like Joe Lieberman but damnit - I just want his "D" in my column so we can have Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. We have that and we have a chance of getting out of Iraq.
