If the separation of Church and State is a Myth
as spewed forth by radical christian clerics in this country then why do churchs hold tightly to their tax exempt status? If there is no separation, there should be no tax exempt status and churchs should fall under the aegis of government regulations like any other money making business.

I'm still waiting for "christians" to propose a constitutional amendment outlawing divorce to prove their sincere desire to actually maintain the sanctity of marriage.

Happy Holidays Ya'll!

2. Thank You kindly teammate
I really get extremely perturbed when a group of Americans attempts to take away the constitutional liberties of another group of Americans solely because they hate them for religious reasons. If it weren't for the intense ignorance and malleability of the flock the radical extremist clerics in this country would evaporate and blow away.

I know I'll be contradicting my post but I truly believe that doing away with the tax exempt status for churchs is the ultimate separation of church and state.

THE CONSTITUTION TRUMPS THE BIBLE EACH AND EVERY TIME BOTH ARE APPLIED TO ANY SITUATION IN THIS COUNTRY. ITS REALLY QUITE SIMPLE.

4. I'm just and old Hippie
Got Eric Clapton's Journeyman cranked up as I hunt and peck and (hopefully) aggravate lurkers. For the first time since last January I have long pants (jeans) on in anticipation of 24 hours of cold weather. Our winters are usually over by now !!! Its still nasty cold on the coast. Tentatively plan on going to the quarter on the 20th. All four lanes of the twin spans between Slidell and New Orleans will be open no later than 17 January. I bet they'll be open before New Years.

Ya'll have a big ole time way up north in Georgia! (I guess I'm a Yankee since I live north of I-10.)

8. Brrr. It sleeted here this morning and it is now cold and raining.
This is my most unfavorite weather. :( My horse is snug in her waterproof and breathable rain sheet and the kitties are inside with my husband who has a day off from work. :) I remember visiting Old Towne Slidell's Christmas display and noting that most people were wearing shorts! That's great news about the twin spans! Please report on your trip to the quarter. Stay warm!

Keep on aggravating lurkers! You speak with authority and experience!

6. I agree, BOSS
The whole divorce issue shows hypocrisy. If you believe in the "sanctity of marriage" then excommunicate divorced people. Then you would have at least some level of moral capital to spend when it comes to gay marriage.

But that would...gasp.... affect 50% of the country, including 50% who sit in those huge churches, and not 10% or less, a population who has been getting the crap kicked out of them for generations.

Even the Catholic Church went soft on divorce. I don't see how you can pick one from column a and one from b and have any credibility.

7. Here's what you tell people who say separation is a myth...
Tell them Jesus originated the idea:

... Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's,
and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
Mark 12:17

that always shuts them up
