Harry Reid: Something exciting happened today
The media likes to repeat the Republican talking point that Democrats have no agenda--you and I know that is simply not true. Across the country Democrats are participating in dozens of events and with one voice saying it's time to reform: together, America can do better.

In Washington, DC, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi unveiled a new piece of legislation to eliminate tax giveaways for energy companies. Frank Lautenberg spoke in New Jersey about how America can do better than a Medicare prescription drug bill that confuses and shortchanges seniors by providing giveaways to drug companies.

In Wisconsin, Herb Kohl addressed the need for America to do better than an economy that kicks families out of the middle class and how we can help everyone achieve the American dream. While in New York, John Kerry discussed a plan to do a better job protecting Americans from terrorist attack. Patty Murray held four events across Washington State focusing on issues ranging from affordable housing to full funding of veterans' programs. And Chuck Schumer and Robert Byrd both addressed energy independence with members of their local communities.

Today Barbara Mikulski, Paul Sarbanes and I held a town hall meeting in Baltimore with nursing students to highlight the Democratic Party's commitment to reform. While we are working to increase opportunities for higher education, Congressional Republicans are slashing financial aid and curbing opportunities for students to get ahead. Christopher Reed, Patrice Pantin, and Julie Story, students at the John Hopkins School of Nursing, told us about their own struggles to get the training they need.

Each of these events focuses on an important part of the Democratic agenda that will guide us towards taking back both the Senate and House in 2006. We can have a government with open, honest elected officials--it's a matter of priorities. Democrats believe the government works for people, that issues such as student loans, high energy prices, safety and security, should be our top priority not handouts for the well connected.

Thank you,

Harry Reid

2. Yeah it was exciting, the House raped the American People.
I don't think we can take very much more of this GOP style excitement.

15. No kidding! The media is talking about how the Democrats have no
unified message. Why should they? They aren't running the war. They are creating opposing viewpoints to something that is NOT working. The Administration and Republicans should be the ones presenting a unified plan, but there is more dissension on the right than on the left.

Most Democrats are in agreement that the current strategy is not working and they are bringing a variety of options to the table. How does translate to having no unified message? What does the media want, the Democrats to all get together with a single plan and march on the White House and jam it up Bush's butt? (Not that this isn't an appealing prospect.) Seriously, the media is way out of line criticizing the Democrats. Again, blame the victim.

5. The Democrats as a whole are unified.
The MSM wants the public to think that we are weak and divided (proping up *).
Aside from Loserman, we are a united party.

6. new ideas?
Unfortunately, all of the efforts mentioned above are not really 'new ideas,' bat rather stop-gaps desperately needed to fix Bush's fuck ups.

11. "We can have a government with open, honest elected officials." -H. Reid

I don't see how that's possible with Bushite corporations--Diebold and ES&S--tabulating our votes with 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, and with virtually no audit/recount capability. Kansas just approved a Diebold system. So did North Carolina. And they're trying to get the worst of their election theft machines--the touchscreens (DREs)--re-certified in California, after former Democratic Secretary of State Kevin Shelly sued the company for lying and banned their shoddy, hackable technology.

It is ABSOLUTELY INSANE for the Democratic Party leadership to have acquiesced in this Bushite corporate takeover of our election system with barely a word of comment or objection. They should have been yelling about it from the rooftops. They should have shut down Washington DC to get this changed.

And so, it doesn't matter what Democrats say in their speeches. The robbery against the poor will go on. The war in the Middle East will go on. The torture and the secret prisons will go on. And our democracy will be once and for all destroyed.

Some Democrats are corrupt and collusive on the $4 billion electronic voting boondoggle, having sold away our right to vote for lavish lobbying junkets* or future job offers. Some War Democrats undoubtedly didn't want the grass roots antiwar movement to win the 2004 election, and elect a president who was beholden to the American people (58% of whom opposed the Iraq war before the invasion, in Feb. '03, with that figure now around 70%.)

I still don't understand it. I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT! And it is beyond me to understand how a supposed leader of this party can promote dreams of reform, absent the one essential reform that MUST GET DONE.

Throw Diebold and ES&S election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW!

Recently, in Ohio, the electronic voting machines flipped a 60/40 predicted pre-election win for four ELECTION REFORM initiatives into a 60/40 LOSS on election day--the most audacious flipover yet. Read Bob Koehler's article:

---------------------

WHERE is the Democratic Party strategy to defeat these Bushite-controlled election theft machines?

WHAT is the Democratic Party doing to monitor and challenge the election results, when they INEVITABLY turn out wrong? (Funding independent exit polls would be a good beginning--ones that the war profiteering corporate news monopolies cannot DOCTOR on election night to FIT THE RESULTS of the Bushite-controlled SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code!)

WHEN is the Democratic Party going to WAKE UP?

16. Reid's and the Party's agenda are great, but will never happen
until we repair the election system and require paper ballots. In every single precinct.
