Election 2008 Virginia: Warner 49% Allen 44%

Survey of 500 Likely Voters

December 7, 2005

Election 2008

Virginia President
George Allen (R) 44%
Mark Warner (D) 49%
Other 8%

December 9, 2005--Virginia Senator George Allen (R) and outgoing Governor Mark Warner (D) are both mentioned as serious contenders for their party's Presidential nomination. If both capture their party nominations, Warner holds a slight edge in the race for home state bragging rights and Virginia's Electoral Votes.

The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll in Virginia shows Warner the favorite for 49% of the state's Likely Voters while Allen is the choice of 44%. Warner leads by 12 among women while Allen has a two-point edge among male voters.>>

<< Allen is viewed favorably by 67% of the state's voters. For Warner, the figure is 71%.

Forty-one percent (41%) of Virginia voters believe Warner should run for the White House. Thirty-eight percent (38%) say the same about Allen.>>

1. This is bad news for Allen
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 01:27 PM by Ignacio Upton
He is the GOP's best candidate for 2008 (only one out of potential Republican candidates who can appeal to the "Bubba Voters" that voted for Chimp) However, I would like to knock off Allen next year!

11. Remember those rubber clown dolls with weights on the bottom?
No matter how often you knocked them down, they'd jump right back up again for another punch.

Losing in Virginia won't knock Allen down or out. These guys always come back unless they go to prison, get religion, and then reappear on the radio.

The only response to an Allen candidacy will be for the Democrats to start mending fences with their traditional base, steal those Bubbas back from a GOP that at least promised them tax cuts along with all the increased repression of uppity women and blacks.

We are talking about President here. He has set up a national PAC. He is running.

4. I think the OP is talking about the Presidential election, and both
Warner and Allen have been talking like candidates for a while now.

I think it would prove to be quite an interesting race with two Va. candidates opposing each other!

7. Yes, also the last election with two candidates being from the
same state was Frankin Roosevelt vs. Thomas Dewey in 1944. FDR was a former Governor of New York running for his fourth term in the White House, while Dewey was the current Governor of New York.

10. Diebold didn't steal Virginia in 2005
Otherwise we would have Governor Kilgore.

13. Yes, and Kaine still won it by 6%. Bush won it by 8% by the way.
Also, I have never seen anything to indicate that Warner couldn't win VA, even if he was running against Allen.
