Bill Richardson is worried that the NSA passed on his info to Bolton.
By James W. Brosnan
Scripps Howard News Service
April 28, 2005

<WASHINGTON - Gov. Bill Richardson is concerned that some of his phone calls were monitored by a U.S. spy agency and transcripts of them were given to the president's nominee for ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton.>

http://www.abqtrib.com/albq/nw_local_state_government/article/0%2C2564%2CALBQ_19859_3736152%2C00.html

I don't know how good the report is but the NSA did domestic spying and just called it
"training," according to the article.

All we need is one real American who will stay out of small planes to step forward and
say what * used the NSA for. I am willing to bet $100.00 that John Kerry's campaign
was a target.

1. That would be a legitimate concern
considering who and what Bolton is.
Worries me too.

2. It's very easy to see why this administration did not want paper trail in
the form of warrants.

4. Agreed. It's the only plausible explanation.
Or at least the only credible one that comes to my mind.

5. Had to be intercepts that a judge wouldn't approve
The evidence is clear that the judges on the secret Federal court approved almost every request for wiretaps and intercepts that had ever been requested. They also approved the requests quickly. The judges were always on call. The law allowed retroactive court approvals in emergency situations.

Then, why would Bush not go to court for the approval? The only logical reason is that the Bushies were listening in on conversations that a judge would NOT approve. Or, he was listening in upon insiders who were leaking information (Colin Powell?) or who were future Democratic candidates for President (such as Richardson?)

Any legitimate request involving real terrorism would have been quickly approved.

6. IMHO Richardson would have not brought this up
unless he had proof that Bolton knew something he said in one of the conversions. Just my opinion.

9. I agree. He's not the type to speak out about it unless he's
pretty sure it happened.

10. Remember the WH staffer who anonymously stated that they wished
the Bush WH would spend as much time targeting Bin Laden as it did John Kerry?

I believe that was in the spring or early summer of 2004. Might make a very telling statement if we could find that article and revive it for the news media and blogosphere.
