AP Poll: Congressional Democrats Favored
WASHINGTON - In an ominous election-year sign for Republicans, Americans are leaning sharply toward wanting Democrats to take control of Congress, an AP-Ipsos poll finds. Democrats are favored 49 percent to 36 percent.

The poll was taken this week as Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff pleaded guilty to tax evasion, fraud and corruption charges and agreed to aid a federal investigation of members of Congress and other government officials.

President Bush's job approval remains low — 40 percent in the AP-Ipsos poll. About as many approve of his handling of Iraq, where violence against Iraqis and U.S. troops has been surging.

Now, if we can be assured the machines count the votes (DEMS ARE WORKING ON A PAPER TRAIL) - we might be in good shape come the end of this year! YEAH!

1. will it even matter if the DIEBOLD MACHINES still rule the roost?
they've stolen our votes before. O, i just saw your statement at the bottom of your post!!! i was writing this before i read your statement... i think the machines are a real concern for so many of us!and not just the machines but the many other and countless ways in which bush has given the republicans license and a blue print with which to steal elections.

2. I think so for a few reasons.
1. Election reform is in the works
2. Diebold is not in every state/district
3. The percentage of Americans fed up with these assholes is significant.

I think we can do it - in spite of it all. I am really hopeful for the first time in a loooooong time!

3. Breaking News! This just in!!
Vice President Dick Cheney emerged from his evil lair today in the basement of the White House. Upon seeing his reflection in a mirror, the creepy veepy disintegrated into thin air due to spontaneous combustion.
Amazingly, the whole incident was caught on White House security cameras. Stay tuned for the film! (scroll down)

4. We need to run with this
The Abramoff scandal is a REPUBLICAN scandal, and we need to shout this from the rafters, as the MSM and the repugs are trying to paint this as a bipartisan scandal. Dems took money from Abramoff's clients, WHICH IS LEGAL. Abramoff? Well, he shut the Dems out deliberately, in the hopes of making the party obsolete. We need to point this out NOW, through LTTE's or whatever means. There are so many scandals out there, that I'm afraid the public's going to grow weary and develop "scandal fatigue".

"Neither one of the parties has done a very good job so far," said Cristal Mills, a political independent from Los Angeles. "They get away with murder, they get paid to pass certain things. It's the good ol' boy syndrome."

This is exactly the sort of attitude we need to nip in the bud, NOW. The "They all do it" attitude is not going to win us elections, just apathy.

6. You are SO right.
We have to do a better job of containing this mis-info.

But, if Republicans are discouraged and stay home, and Dems got to the polls, that's a good thing. I'd like to see some numbers on the attitudes of voters in this respect.

10. Dems go to the polls
when Democrats act like Democrats. The lesser-of-two-evils thing isn't enough. I like the way Howard Dean has been organizing: grass-roots, internet fundraising, local organizing, going into the "Red" states. I hope to see more of a return to the things Dems are supposed to stand for, rather than the DLC approach.

11. Thats what I have said...
in a few posts, well pretty much ALL of them. The Democrats need to pull together and stand up UNITED and fight this beast that has cast himself upon us! We need to reach out to the COMMON man or woman today. The single parents, the working poor, the ones still in poverty while the government spends billions of dollard per day on their illegal businessman's war for oil. We have to reach the ones who near retirement and worried about what happpens afterwards. No medical care, am I even going to have any reitrement? Thats a question that a lot of 20 somethings to 40 somethings are asking themselves right now. We need to help assure them that what they worked for IS going to be there when they need it. Struggling businesses need to know the economy is going to improve and they can survive it. Some of the sheeple are starting to wake up and ask these questions, and we need to have an answer for them. An HONEST answer. We need to restore RESPECT back to our Nation. We need to restore INTEGRITY back to our Nation. Most of all, we need to put the DEM back in DEMOCRACY!
In case you missed the news earlier, Dick Cheney saw his reflection in the mirror and spontaneously combusted. The whole scene was caught on security cameras, and we have the film:

16. Absolutely.
We have been remiss when it comes to reaching out to "the common man" as you say. We have got to get back to our roots, strengthen unions/healthcare/retirement security/education ...

12. Yep, Americans want a balance of power.
Always have always will....the pendulum is going to swing our way.

Let's do our best to hold it there awhile against the inevitable tides of history.

14. Hell, I am in Texas where....
....Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff were able to gerrymander the hell out of the map. I have seen 2 year old babies do more legible fingerpaintings than the congressional district map of Texas.
