Paul Krugman said that the media needed to ask themselves some questions about the Iraq war etc, acknowledging that so much was known by the media but not reported:
"What did we know, and when did we know it? And why didn't we inform the American people?"
What the heck, it is only our Democracy, our nation, our ideals, our way of life that is being eroded bit by bit day after day.
No big deal, apparently, to too many folks.
Is lobbying business as usual, some of them ask?
I wonder if they have read anything of substance about Abramoff and the dark sleazy slime that is involved in that case?
Lobbying is one thing, this scandal isn't about lobbying, it is about corruption so shameful that we've not seen the like of it in this nation in my lifetime.
Lobbying should be more regulated, real election reform is needed. But let us not conflate the 2.
The Abramoff scandal is is a singular encapsulation of evil, sociopathic, power gone mad.
Lobbying is a different animal, all too susceptible to corruption but which has rarely reached the depths that are now being exposed in the Repub party.
Yes, like Howie Dean said, this is a REPUBLICAN scandal.
(I'm switching computers and using the old one from a very uncomfortable nook, hopefully will be on the new one in more comfortable surroundings soon. Gotta say my piece fast, as a result)
