I don't want to see someone who plays nice with the GOP. I want to see somebody who will rip $hrubya's head off and piss down his neck!

For that to happen, the "local boy" has to win South Carolina and do well elsewhere.
For Mr Kerry's rivals, the difficulty is how to pull him back in a race that has become all about being nice after the "passion" of Howard Dean catastrophically backfired. Halfway through Thursday night's debate Dr Dean launched a tentative foray, accusing Mr Kerry of achieving little in his 19 years in the Senate and contrasting that with his own "can-do" record as a governor of Vermont.
Mr Kerry was the most vulnerable to charges of being too aloof to appeal to the South in the wake of a recent remark that the Democrats had made a mistake in worrying about trying to compete there. Three months ago Mr Edwards excoriated Dr Dean for clumsy remarks about the South.
But this time, with another "Yankee" front-runner in his sights, Mr Edwards forsook the opportunity to go for the jugular. He has soared in the ratings and set the tone for the contest by pointedly eschewing "dog-eat-dog" tactics. He was not going to risk charges of hypocrisy by changing tack.
