Rumsfeld was on ABB board during deal with North Korea
http://www.swissinfo.org/sen/swissinfo.html?siteSect=105&sid=1648385

The Swiss-based ABB on Friday told swissinfo that Rumsfeld was involved with the company in early 2000, when it netted a $200 million (SFr270million) contract with Pyongyang.

The ABB contract was to deliver equipment and services for two nuclear power stations at Kumho, on North Korea’s east coast.

Rumsfeld – who is one of the Bush administration’s most strident “hardliners” on North Korea – was a member of ABB’s board between 1990 and February 2001, when he left to take up his current post.

Wolfram Eberhardt, a spokesman for ABB, told swissinfo that Rumsfeld “was at nearly all the board meetings” during his decade-long involvement with the company.

2. WOW, "Weapons experts say material could be used for a "dirty bomb"!
Weapons experts say waste material from the two reactors could be used for so-called “dirty bombs”.

3. ABB failed to perform- they breached the accords first
This is the significance of the Rumsfeld involvement. This corporation sabatoged the agreement. How could Rumsfeld be faulted for participating in a company working on a project pursuant to a US executive agreement approved by the Clinton administration?

This story is very misleading.

4. The Bush government has repeatedly used the agreement to criticise Clinton
"The Bush government has repeatedly used the agreement to criticise the former Clinton administration for being too soft on North Korea. Rumsfeld’s deputy, Paul Wolfowitz, has been among the most vocal critics of the 1994 weapons accord."

Where did you get that this corporation sabotaged the agreement. Did I miss something?

...agreement that the US negotiated with N.Korea. They weren't being met. When they obviously weren't going to perform, N.Korea resumed operations of their nuclear research reactor. This has been reported in the Asian press. It has received virtually no coverage in the US.

Having an adversary to the agreement like Rumsfeld on the board of the firm responsible for performance leads to the inference that he wasn't there to help. That is my analysis as a follower of Korean affairs.

Al gae saw-yo?
