Dump the Machines
If we want to take back Congress in 2006, we must have verifiable elections.

The systems that have been hoisted upon us by Diebold, ES&S & Sequoia are rigged and are not reliable. We need a cease and desist order to stop the use of these machines in the next election.

In order to win, we must go back to PAPER & PEN, with a verifiable count. That means if I count the same pile of votes twice, I get the same result. This is not rocket science. This is Accounting 101. Anyone with a computer can set up a program to accurately count votes.

Before we vote in the next primary and general elections, we, the people, need to make sure that the Repugs don't get away with stealing another one. PAPER & PEN, the only way to vote.

3. Bush won the Absentee Ballot vote in FL
Kerry won the Early Vote in FL

Election day was about 50/50.

What does this say? There is a problem in the Absentee vote.

Since 2000 the Repugs have done everything they can to make it easier to vote absentee. In the past, you had to have a good excuse not to show up at the poll and you had to have a WITNESS to sign your ballot. Both those restricts are gone and anyone can get a ballot for any reason. Repugs have targeted these votes because it is so easy to cheat now and they do it in numerous ways all over the country.

Here's just one example:

Fourteen people in the town of Appalachia, in far Southwest Virginia, were indicted Thursday on 269 counts alleging 917 criminal acts relating to the fixing of the town's 2004 election and other crimes.

It all came undone because of pork rinds.

The scheme, according to prosecutors, was to put a man named Ben Cooper in as mayor, town manager and, in effect, head of the police department. It involved bribing, tricking or coercing people to vote for specific candidates, either at the polls or through absentee ballots, they say.

EARLY VOTING and VOTING on election day, IN PERSON are the best ways to vote. Are we all so busy, that we can't take a few minutes to vote in person? If it's not worth doing it in person (if you can) then maybe you shouldn't bother?

2. Agree
...but..but, Hillary has recently said that we need 100% electronic voting. With a few exceptions, the Democratic party is not listening to us.

5. From Kos diary
From a Hillary speech in Philly:

Fix our electoral system to every vote is counted and every vote counts.

Safe, secure, hackproof systems, as others have done. In India, it's all electronic.

During the summer of 2002, Hillary went to CN to view a paperless election to which she later gave her blessing. Now I'm not sure what India is up to, nor do I care, because I know that 100% electronic elections will never be "hackproof."

The diary is very pro-Hillary, and nicely written.
