1. 21% of Americans will be mad when they realize there were no WMDs in Iraq
Not even the ones we sold them in the first place!

I wonder if the 21% of Americans who think we went into Iraq because they supposedly had WMDs know yet that those Improvised Explosive Devices are made with artillery shells that the insurgents stole because we never bothered to actually guard the huge weapons depots where they were being stored?

Not only didn't Iraq have WMDs... we didn't even look in the places where the WMDs would have been had they actually had them, nor did we guard sites where conventional weapons were known to be stored!

Either this pResident is incredibly incompetent, or else he wants to destroy the world!

3. those people will never realize there were no WMDs
I think a significantly larger percentage than 21% think we found them. What can you do?

2. That being said, I would be interested in what Americans think is the
reason.

Oil?
Geopolitical advantage?
US Corporate interests?
Pissed off because the US didn't finish the job in the first Gulf War?
Fualty Neocon theory and idiology?
Pissed off about 9/11 and still wanted a little pay back?
Raise chimp's poll numbers?
An excuse to end civil rights and bring us into an Orwell state of mind?

I have thought about the reason for this war long and hard.

4. yep
most of your answers registered, except nothing here about Rove politics, which I think should be one of the choices, nor about Israel, which I think should be another...

5. Maybe he misses his toys of childhood and wanted to play war?
This is such a screw up one wonders why we went and why we stay. I hope we do not have to leave from the top of the green zone as in Saigon. That was I think 30 years ago. Once that get on TV once more, less than 3% will think we can free Iraq. Today I read we killed one terrorist and 11 people to get him. Now that makes you wake up and think as we go into more debt for this foolish war for a foolish Bush.

7. Proof positive that most Americans have jello for brains.
Which always makes election time tons of fun.

Perhaps this illustrates to some DU'ers that which seems logical and obvious to us will fly over and right past the heads of most Americans. Political strategy today is a science.
