4 A.M. (up with the baby) I catch "Meet the Press"
What in the HELL was that???

I put in " " s because that is clearly no longer a serious news show or even what it has been for the last 10 years.

Russert had the Bush impersonator on.... in the studio at the table with the Chief Political editor of the Washington Post and the national correspondent from Vanity Fair. They just had to sit there while this schmoe did his horribly lame bit and basically got a free advertisement. Russert was badly forcing fake laughter.

Good lord I (ME let alone someone in those positions) would have got up and walked out.

That was bizarre. The most ironic point of course it that Russert, the epitome of Washington press in this age, has this two bit pre-emptive hasbeen on a week after a lame stupid skit that everyone who owns or uses a computer has forgotten about. Maybe this is Russert following orders to blatantly continue to ignore Colbert dressing everyone down. I don't know but this is the first time I have watched MTP in months and it will be the last. "Jumping the shark" doesn't even cover that.

That guy isn't funny. I know from funny and that guy isn't it. He is just a lame impression anyone can do with a big make-up budget that's it. At least Mark Russell could play a piano.

From what I saw of Pelosi she did okay but she isn't the best at this sort of situation. Russert interrupted her endlessly and this "See we found one so you all are just as guilty" (corruption) was straight from RNC talking points.

It is good to hear the Democrats pointing out that they DO have an agenda but she should have said "As you should know....". Wes Clark mentioned the National Security agenda on Bill Maher's show Friday night.

4. Russert assumed the Grand Inquisitorial style of interviewing
Never letting Pelosi finish a sentence or actually even hit her stride. He was hyper aggressive to the point of rudeness, he was accusing, he adopted a very adversarial style that was not the norm for that program. Russert did his very best to make sure she came off as badly as possible.

Pelosi was definitely not at her best, but Tim did her no favors either.

5. underpants...
It's been this way for a while now, and seems only to be getting worse. I almost never watch the Sunday morning shows anymore (and I used to watch them all the time, and even tape them when I was going to be out). It's BAD. The media belongs to the RW now, and we have to fight to get it back.

7. Yeah I used to watch religously too
I have fairly recently realized that there is nothing new there. Nothing. No substance nothing. In fact when I do catch the network news (used to watch every night too) I actually laugh at how they report the "news" the misinformation has crossed a line that I thought was only available in books and cartoons.

I know it has been like that for a while but I thought I would check it out. At 4 AM it is pretty much that or Girls Gone Wild commercials or really really old movies on TCM.

12. Russert does have a job - convince voters that Dems are bad and that the
fascist agenda of BushInc is well-intended, based on Christian values, and should be welcomed with open arms.

13. For reasons I don't understand my Mother has been tolerant of Russert
Edited on Mon May-08-06 12:15 PM by dflprincess
even though I keep pointing out he's a whore. However, his treatment of Pelosi yesterday did irk her so maybe she's starting to see the light. I also hammered with her on the fact that, if he was going to have a speaker from the Correspondant's dinner on, it should have been Colbert. I really thought he was using the Bush impersonator to kind of slam Colbert - especially when the impersonator was led into making remarks like "You don't want to be mean or hurt anyone with your jokes".

14. Know what ya mean...I seldom watch the program. I had it on
Sunday and when Tim started his badgering of Pelosi on the tax cut. She tapped danced around him pretty good while I had it on.
