2. I'm going to have to agree with the reeling in the Perch moment. That'd
have to be his best moment in office.

"I apologize to the American people and to the world, and I hereby tender my resignation effective immediately. I will not seek nor accept any pardon for my many criminal abuses of power while in office, and I intend to cooperate fully with the coming prosecution. I ask only that it proceed swiftly so that our nation can begin healing from the damage that I have caused it."

4. I really am trying to think of something.
How about when he made the surprise visit to the troops for Thanksgiving and brought them a turkey? I know he lifted their spirits and helped morale. That was such a selfless thing to do!! :D

25. For a few seconds after 9-11
I felt he was bringing America together. The original "bullhorn" moment, though any idiot could see that was an exploited photo-op, but hey, we needed that?

D'oh, me. There is absolutely nothing I can think of to thank Bush for..personally, locally, nationally or globally.

29. Eh, revisionist history.
The moments after 9-11 he spent hiding. Then he spent some time with photo-ops. Then he used the hysteria to push tax cuts for the rich through congress. Once he was done with his agenda, then he started thinking about Afghanistan.

The personal "highlight" of his presidency is catching a perch at his ranch pond.

I agree, Our President was missing in action, when We, the Americans, needed the biggest hug of all. Third World Countries usually overthrow these idiots within moments of their Idiot Moment, am I close?

30. His first post-9/11 speech was good
Whoever wrote it, it was a good speech. We needed it.

For a brief moment, it looked like he might live up to "uniter, not a divider," but almost immediately came theocratic talk of "crusades," moronic talk like calling the terrorists "folks," the wild-west swagger that culminated in "bring it on," and the insane and sneaky conflation of the 9/11 Saudis et al. with Iraq.

The phoney baloneyness of the bullhorn photo-op, building his "mandate" on the bodies of all those victims, just turned my stomach.

32. W's actual role in the administration is present here
The President and the Vice President
The President was seated in a classroom when, at 9:05,Andrew Card whispered to him: "A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack." The President told us his instinct was to project calm, not to have the country see an excited reaction at a moment of crisis. The press was standing behind the children; he saw their phones and pagers start to ring. The President felt he should project strength and calm until he could better understand what was happening.203

The President remained in the classroom for another five to seven minutes, while the children continued reading. He then returned to a holding room shortly before 9:15, where he was briefed by staff and saw television coverage. He next spoke to Vice President Cheney, Dr. Rice, New York Governor George Pataki, and FBI Director Robert Mueller. He decided to make a brief statement from the school before leaving for the airport. The Secret Service told us they were anxious to move the President to a safer location, but did not think it imperative for him to run out the door.204

Between 9:15 and 9:30, the staff was busy arranging a return to Washington, while the President consulted his senior advisers about his remarks. No one in the traveling party had any information during this time that other aircraft were hijacked or missing. Staff was in contact with the White House Situation Room, but as far as we could determine, no one with the President was in contact with the Pentagon. The focus was on the President's statement to the nation. The only decision made during this time was to return to Washington.205
