Bush in NM: Rolled up sleeves, cowboy hats, spittin' in a can, hoss.
Bush Promotes Progress on Immigration Reform in New Mexico
Tuesday, June 06, 2006

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,198327,00.html

The House has passed a stricter bill that focuses on border security to keep immigrants out. If Bush is to achieve his goal of getting a new comprehensive law, members of the House have to sign on to the more welcoming measures in the Senate bill, including provisions allowing illegal immigrants to become citizens. "This is the toughest part of the bill for the Congress," the president acknowledged.

"While the differences grab the headlines, the similarities in approaches are striking," Bush said from the Border Patrol's training facility here. "We all agree we need to control our borders. There's a common agreement that the federal government has a responsibility to control the borders so that every illegal immigrant caught at the border needs to be sent home."

But Bush said it's also necessary to have other reforms that not everyone supports — a temporary worker program for immigrants to take low-paying jobs and a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants who have been living in the United States for a long time. "I believe strongly this — that if we don't address all the elements together, none of them is going to be solved at all," Bush said.

Bush shed the suit that he was wearing to board Air Force One for the long flight west :eyes: and delivered his speech in rolled up shirt sleeves. :eyes: The former Texas governor said he felt at home in the hot, dusty climate. "I knew I was in good company when I saw all the cowboy hats, and I think I saw one guy spitting in a can," he said.

1. The only thing worse than a plastic Jesus on a dashboard is a
plastic poseur spitting plastic 'chew' into a plastic can.

3. Did you catch the expression
on that Mexican's face behind him, really all of the border guards? They looked none too happy to be his back-drop. Of course I'd be frowning too in 110 degree weather outside with that asshole in front of me smelling up the place.

17. Those aren't Mexicans--those are New Mexicans!
They're Americans!

But yes, I laughted and laughed, especially at the guy with the really round face who looked as if he'd rather be ANYWHERE else than where he was.

5. CNN is the only cable station that aired the whole crappy speech!
I ALWAYS hit the mute button when his ugly mug comes on.. (I can't stand listening to that voice )

But I did a little channel surfing and MSNBC cut him off after a few minutes and said they'd "monitor it" .. Faux news even cut him off after a few minutes and went on to talk about that college murder case.

Damn CNN.. get with the program! The more you show of Bush, the lower your viewership will go!

6. Most humans travel comfy and put on the suit later
for the meeting. What a buffoon and where are the cowboy hats? All I see are ball caps and "Smokey Bear/Mountie" hats. This idiot isn't even adequate as a fraud.

7. He's such a "regular Joe" isn't he?
with that Texas twang and all. Jeezus, don't you just wanna have a beer with the guy? Oh yeah, he doesn't drink ...

What a poseur. The phony Will Rogers routine is barf-inducing. Luckily, I think the public is starting to see through it.

10. His "Texas Twang" reminds me of the late, great John Candy...
...and his ongoing "Steve Roman" character. Roman was an out-of-shape Tom Selleck, "Magnum PI" type, who prided himself on his array of foreign accents ("In this series, I play a Mexican...")

The joke, of course, was that "Steve Roman" wouldn't know an authentic accent if it bit him on the backside, and every one he attempted (no matter where the country of origin might be) sounded like a bad Dutch overdub.

George W. Bush is a spoiled, AWOL, silver spoon frat boy from Connecticut...NOT a "Texan." Unless we define "Texan" as "An Imaginary Texan."

all along I was thinking he thought of himself as Ronald Reagan the President. He actually thinks he is Ronald Reagan the actor.

9. But Junior SAW "cowboy hats"...
...and my educated guess is that it was the result of some hallucinogenic refreshment he had on his suit-wearin' Air Force One trip.

A likely suspect:

Those "homemade" brownies Little Scottie McClellan served on his way out the door. Loaded with fudgy goodness...and THC.

19. There are lots of cowboy hats in New Mexico, but
people around here don't talk like that. His handlers were trying to make him "identify" with other westerners or something.

The ignorance is astounding.

12. Maybe he anticipated...
...one of those frequent "President Bush talks thoughtfully on the phone" photo ops. They're all over the White House Web Site...photo after photo after photo of Bush talking into a phone, acting as if he knows what end he's supposed to talk into.

Of course, he DOES engage in those while wearing one of his many "Members Only"-style jackets, emblazoned with "Commander-In-Chief" or some other such nonsense.

But IMAGINE if we received another Osama video tape while Junior was en route to New Mexico.

Wouldn't you want him to discuss our firm resolve, our refusal to waver in the face of terrorists, while wearing a suit and tie?

Those suits represent everything that makes our country great. American taxpayers paid for those suits.

Or something like that.

I still think he snorts coke, plays Nintendo, and is making the beast with two backs with Condi.

But what do I know?

In almost every photo of the Little Emperor, he seems to be wearing a blue shirt. Hmmm. Typical photo-op, all hat, no horse. Dweeb.

18. Oh my God.
I mentioned this yesterday. He was playing up all of that phoney Texan B.S. because New Mexico has a small border shared with Texas.

BUT PEOPLE HERE IN NM DON'T SOUND ANYTHING LIKE THAT!

That was a BIG mistake on the part of Chimpy's handlers.

... plus providing him with a private plane and all kinds of other comforts, I would expect him to at least make an effort and dress up a bit when he meets me (or rather the electorate). I don't mean "3-piece suit" like Nixon, but given that the other people in the pic were expected to wear dark (heat-absorbing) uniforms just to stand behind him, he could at least cling to a bit of formality.

When on the job, the US President should look tidier than I do (unless he is visiting a wilderness area, a disaster relief operation, or a Habitat build site, in which case he should have appropriate safety gear). Considering that I am wearing jeans, sneakers, and a T-shirt, looking more respectable than me is not a difficult thing to accomplish!

If he's not out in front of the camera at a planned event like this ... sure, he can wear cut-offs, a track suit, or whatever he likes. I'm not so harsh an employer as to order a round-the-clock dress code! But even I think that he looks like a slob.
