Will Tom Delay Go Free?
Apparently he's gotten himself one of the best lawyers in the country... Houston's Dick DeGuerin. He's represented David Koresh, and got Robert Durst acquitted of murdering his neighbor from across the hall, even though he then chopped the body into pieces to dispose of it and went on the run. DeGuerin got him off scott-free. Sadly, he's also a liberal... but one that likes money and is apparently able to believe in the innocence of his clients.

If Delay can legally beat this thing, he's set to do so!

2. Surprisingly, I don't even care at this point.
The humiliation DeLay has suffered so far has been a thing of beauty to watch. I usually do my best not to revel in someone else's misfortune, but in this case, the saying "what goes around, comes around" comes to mind.

That Mr. "I-am-the-federal-government" was forced to resign not only his position as House Speaker, but also his airtight Senate seat was some of the best news to come out of these past six long years.

The most recent news that he's in hock to his lawyers for over $2 million is even better news.

That he has to hire a lawyer now who has defended the most whacked-out and heinous in order to have a prayer of getting off speaks for itself.

It will only get worse from here for him.

4. I care. He's a crook who needs to be punished. Otherwise, he'll
become a lobbyist and rake in millions; that legal fee will be considered a drop in the bucket.
Besides, I'm sick of seeing his smarmy face! :grr:

7. If DeLay and his ilk wiggle out of their crimes,
don't blame the adults of the future for telling lies or for breaking the laws of the land. This administration has no role models for today's children to look up to. They have taken this generation's education away, taught them how to take whatever they want by force and shown them the way to lie and cheat without jeopardizing their ill-gotten gains.

9. Makes me glad I don't have kids...
I'd go crazy from the cognitive dissonance caused by deciding whether to raise them as decent human beings, or raising them to survive.

11. Bush can't pardon him
Bush's pardon power only extends to Federal crimes, DeLay is charged under state law.
