Candidate decorum - What's wrong with this?
This is a newsy write-up about Rahm campaigning with Murphy in Philly. They have a good hook for an audience outside a retirement home, bashing the incumbent for being wishy washy on protecting SocSec, warning that bush will revisit the issue if the gop maintains the majority.

The Hill records a response from the incumbent:

Asked about the race, Fitzpatrick brushed off Emanuel’s attacks and dismissed Murphy as an inexperienced and inarticulate candidate.

Then they end the piece with this....explanation/assist:

Regardless of the attention and money the DCCC has showered on Murphy, his inexperience shows. Asked if he would break with House Democratic leaders on any issues, Murphy said, “There’s nothing that comes to mind.”

Will someone please explain to me the problem is here? What whacked out thing might the Dem leaders advance that a Democratic candidate should go on record as opposing? Does anything come to mind?

My best guess is that they were looking for some kind of independent swagger, some bloviating about how "oh yes that could happen and if it did, well, I'm my own man" -said while spitting on the sidewalk and scratching or something.

This kind of phony pre-conceived standard is offensive. The political press seems determined that all our politicians -all our leaders- conform to their tired blow-dried old script.
